I’ve been on a bit of a modern-AU kick recently, and I’ve been thinking about a really cool Shikako in your Wanderlust!AU uploading photos of her journey on a blog or something. (It doesn’t even have to be a modern AU, since advancement in Naruto’s technology skyrockets in peacetime)

Ahahahaha, I can totally imagine that with the twins:

“You went inside a volcano?!”

“In my defense, it was dormant at first.”

“AT FIRST?!”

Or,

“How did you get this shot of a giant shark?”

“… you probably don’t want to know.”

I also figure she really embodies Indiana Jones-but-real in her show:

“Let’s talk about the interesting agricultural based fuinjutsu of the ancient Gelel Empire!”

Turns into,

“Oh gods, why is there this shrine?

Why are there traps?

What do you mean a CURSE?”

I also, also think there’s probably one episode where it’s like:

jacksgreysays:

Ooh! Okay, so part of me feels like any weird technological gaps that canon has could easily be handwaved away in DoS specifically because they’re already on track for that and also Shikako just expects more from tech that even if she’s not the one inventing/improving various tech she’s at the least hinting at something like–hey wouldn’t it be neat if this phone was also a camera? Or, have you considered a wireless network?–but that still will take about a decade or two for the Naruto world to get to modern level.

I imagine, at first, since cameras have been noted to be like clunky for elites and still film based, that she would have to either pay ridiculous amounts of money OR justify why she needs one. The easiest reason I can think of is to further her fuinjutsu research. So at first its very official, almost like police officers with using their weapon: she has a set amount of film and has to keep account of every roll that she uses.

So most of her photos are very cut and dry “see Figure 3” in academic papers on the remains of the Gelel shrine or something like that. But as a sort of protest/she has a few more cells left over she’ll take some pictures of some really spectacular scenery: the view of the galaxy (are they in the Milky Way?) in the desert, sunrise on the horizon from Uzushio, etc etc.

Someone in Intel (maybe Shiho?) is in charge of directing her reports to the right places, but since the landscapes aren’t actually for intel, she just collects it (with proper labelling because Shiho is a proud paperwork nin) until Shikako returns to Konoha for a bit.

And it’s like: oh, I’ve collected your landscapes, Shikako! And there’s just this huge album of them neatly arranged and labelled that Shikako doesn’t actively remember taking. Like, she remembers taking these pictures but she didn’t realize how many of them there were that had accumulated.

And maybe this exchange is during a kunoichi meetings, so the other ladies see it and are all oohing and aahing over it (because no one really vacations as a shinobi. They travel for missions or for training, but hardly ever just to sightsee) so it’s greatly appreciated.

And then someone (probably Ino, because the Yamanaka own a publishing company on behalf of the Ino-Shika-Cho clans) has the idea to publish it. And it is REALLY well-received by the civilian population because they get to travel for sightseeing purposes even less frequently than shinobi. (And there are some views that literally no person has seen in decades or centuries because Uzushio has been abandoned or it’s a place that’s too dangerous with little return). So it’s really just accidental, I think, this following that Shikako garners from photography.

Then, as technology advances so too does her camera (and the Nara clan probably sponsors a really nice one both for the fuinjutsu research and the landscapes) and then the medium that its shared.

Copycats follow (because its an easy way for a shinobi to make money, and no doubt Cloud nin would be all about risking their lives for the perfect shot) but by the time blogging is around, Shikako herself has a following and that in itself has accidentally become a bit like “Man vs. Wild” even though she was originally aiming more for a “How It’s Made” or “Wonders of the Ancient World” or one of the other less action-packed National Geographic/Discovery Channel shows.

Whoops. (The Director of the Princess Fuun movies is probably involved somehow)

“This seal says something about ‘caging the dragon’ but considering chakra pathways used to be called dragon’s veins that’s probably just a metaphorical phrase. Most likely they mean harnessing a point of high natural chakra emissions.”

Twenty minutes later,

“NOT METAPHORICAL. I REPEAT, NOT A METAPHOR!”

Ask Box Advent Calendar 2016 Announcement?

In the wake of my whiplash writing emotions/self-esteem and the realization that tomorrow is December 1st (and thus one month from this blog’s second birthday) I kinda want to do an Ask Box Advent Calendar event of sorts but I’m not entirely sure what I want that to entail…

Because I don’t want this to just be another Ask Box Three Sentence Fic session (though that was fun and I will probably do that again in the future)–mostly due to the fact that I’d like to step away from the medium of three sentence fic for a while–and I also do have some DoS prompts pending* (most of which I do plan on filling eventually**) so I don’t want to just invite a whole flood of other prompts that will, undoubtedly, push them even further back.

So I guess what I’m saying is that I’d like to do a Schrödinger’s cat sort of thing in which y’all send me prompts (or personal questions if anyone is at all curious about me and/or my opinions on things) via the ask box for the month of December and I’ll either try to fill/answer them or write an outline/brainstorm/rant of how I would fill/answer them or why I can’t… if that makes any sense?

Like, y’all can even “resubmit” some of the prompts from the Ask Box Three Sentence Fic session–I can try to do larger fill for it or at the very least outline how I’d attempt to make a full fic for it. Or if you’re wondering what my headcanon is for if/how a certain ship would/could work. Or, I’ll admit, that ask about mono vs poly relationships was pretty fun to answer so if anyone has similar questions that’d be cool, too.

Does that sound at all interesting to anyone?

* (list of pending DoS prompts under cut)
** (if anyone sees their prompt on the list and would like to “resubmit” that prompt for the Advent Calendar because it’s been a really long time since you’ve submitted it and at this point you’d rather have an outline/brainstorm than wait whoever knows how long for an ever decreasing chance of a prose fill then let me know because, well, I’ll be honest, some of them have been languishing for an embarrassingly long time and now they’re beginning to haunt me like the various Ghosts of Christmas Insert-Relative-Time-Term-Here)

Shrike Things

rikkamaru:

So currently future!Tim is going by Stephen, as I don’t know if I want future!Tim or tiny!Tim to go by Timothy and Stephen also means honor without meaning “honoring God”, which I think might appeal to him a bit more. But that means that, to keep things from being confusing for myself or others, I write like most people do when Tim is undercover. Stephen will be his new name, the name I call him by throughout the fic. I’m trying to figure out if I should maintain that or make him Tim and tiny!Tim Stephen (or some other name). Thoughts?

I think it depends on what you plan to do regarding POVs. Will it be entirely future!Tim’s point of view? Or will it jump between different POVs?

I think, if it’s entirely/mostly future!Tim’s POV, that it would be better to have future!Tim refer to himself mentally as Tim with tiny!Tim as Timothy. It’s different enough that readers will be able to distinguish between the two when you write without having to constantly connect Stephen to future!Tim.

I do like Stephen as an alias for him, though, given the “honor” meaning and how there’s that Stephen-Stephanie connection. Considering Shrike is going out on his own as a vigilante for the first time ever, he may very well be reminded of Stephanie during her Spoiler days–alone and without the benefit of an established vigilante infrastructure, but going for it anyway.

So you can still have future!Tim in his “undercover” mode referring to himself as Stephen/thinking as Stephen when others are around, but as soon as he’s alone I do think he’d switch back to “just Tim” mode. And you can also have him refer to himself as Shrike during his patrols and such once he establishes a proper identity/personality for the name.

AU: NarutoxSasuke in DOS with Shikako as a surrogate mum if they ever wanted a baby?

jacksgreysays:

jacksgreysays:

O-okay, anon, this is… hm…

I… first off, have to go back into NaruSasu headspace–which, actually, there are some doujinshi I’ve been meaning to read, so that shouldn’t be too hard–but which I don’t normally equate with DoS as opposed to other Naruto fanfiction since, unsurprisingly, DoS is Shikako-centric so most of my recursive fic is also Shikako-centric (or Sakako, for next generation).

But I also… I don’t really… would Naruto and Sasuke even want a baby and would they want Shikako to be surrogate mother for said baby? I kind of figure they wouldn’t really want kids necessarily but if they did… wouldn’t they adopt? Given that a lot of their bonding/mutual respect for each other was the whole–we are both young orphans thing–wouldn’t they want to adopt?

Although, okay, even if they did want biological children, I kind of find it… not that Shikako would say no, but that Naruto and Sasuke wouldn’t ask her because they know she’d feel obligated to say yes even though she’d rather not?

Sorry anon, this is just going up against a lot of personal head canons that I don’t quite know how I’ll write around… Can I interest you in some Kareru Uzumaki fic with NaruSasu + Shikako instead?

image

Yeah, I mean I understand it’s kind of like a trust/vulnerability thing–you know, like “we would like to have a child and you’re our best friend and we want to involve you in this big step in our lives” and for some people it is an honor of sorts but it’s also… like… no thank you? Like, there’s a difference between being someone’s Maid of Honor and being someone’s surrogate and I can definitely see Shikako being one enthusiastically but the other not so much…

And it’s like… if this is, again, about reviving the Uchiha population (or the Uzumaki population for that matter) then there would be volunteers for such a program that would probably be okay with having someone else raise that child? Pregnancy isn’t a willy nilly decision, I agree, but there are definitely different stances on it and for Shikako it is, as you said, a sacrifice and a huge effort. For a different person who volunteers for this medical program it might not be such a huge sacrifice per se if they’re getting compensated for the effort outside of friendship.

So, you know, if Naruto and Sasuke really want a biological child there’d be others who would be better choices for surrogate than Shikako.

image

If I’m going with my One True Head Canon for Shikako re: kids, I’d have to agree that I don’t think she’d ever actively want children. Her dream future doesn’t involve having children–with Kareru and the NGSS they were more like her stepping up to be their parent as opposed to her actively seeking children to adopt, if that distinction makes any sense. Sakako’s existence I already sort of went into here, but tl;dr Sasuke was the initiating party while Shikako merely agreed to it (and went through with the pregnancy which is no ‘merely’ about it).

I suppose being an SI might be part of it, but I don’t think it’s the majority of the reason, you know? Like… even now (especially after the Gelel arc) Shikako is pretty firmly entrenched into this world. When it was still early days–Academy age, maybe–the reincarnation thing may have weighed on her mind, but especially now that it’s in the time skip I don’t think it’s at all a priority or anything of hers. It’s still an important secret, yes, and it is at the root of all her foreknowledge and thus her other secrets, but its not really the most vital or fraught secret she has anymore.

And except for in the Gelel arc I don’t think she ever wondered much about what might happen to her when she died. As far as she knew, she’d end up in the Pure Lands like other Naruto world people who have died–once is an incident and as far as she knows, it’s only been the once. If this were already her second or third reincarnation, then I can see her taking it as proof that she’s stuck in some kind of reincarnation cycle, but I don’t think it’s at that point yet.

If she were the kind of person who wanted children, I don’t think the possibility of being reincarnated in a world without them would stop her from having them. Especially since that would be after her own death, not theirs, so as far as she knows they’re still living their lives just without her while she’s starting a new one elsewhere… so long as she’s not reincarnated into the future of the Naruto world, where it’s fact that everyone she’s ever loved has died. She takes comfort in knowing that, even without her, her the people she loves are still living.

Ah, a Team Seven!OT3… I didn’t really interpret it that way, mostly because in my head Shikako can’t really see Naruto in a romantic/sexual way even less so than she can with Sasuke. With Sasuke it’s more believable because… actually… vice versa for Naruto, too? Like I just realized my set up of Shikasuke is Sasuke is in love with her and Shikako isn’t in love with him yet / opens her eyes and realizes he’s in love with her / her epic trust and friendship is beginning to turn into love. Whereas I don’t think Naruto feels that way about Shikako so there’s nothing for her to reciprocate in the same way there is in a Shikasuke relationship?

Which would mean Sasuke the point in their polyamorous V, but he himself isn’t poly–so while for him Naruto and Shikako are (in either combination) his “one and exception” it’s still not in his character to be polyamorous. Like… of the three, he’s the only one I hardcore head canon as mono while the other two are possibly/probably poly and having him be the point in their V wouldn’t really work… I mean, he’d probably be over the moon if his “one” were in a relationship with the other member of Team Seven because at least this way he knows and trusts and likes the other person (as opposed to his issues with Gaara) and since his “one” is poly in a relationship with his “exception” there’s no way he can have a problem because he’d just be like… yo, exception, live with us and you can be in a relationship with my one and we can be friends. Probably the happiest he will be in a relationship with a poly person while letting them have other relationships. But him being the one with multiple relationships doesn’t really jive.

Which means it’d have to be either Naruto or Shikako at the point of their polyamorous V which…

The only way I can see a romantic relationship between Shikako and Naruto is after EVERYTHING has been finished. No more Pein, no more Obito, no more Madara, no more Kaguya. Because Naruto is the hero of the story and Shikako can’t do anything to turn him away from victory–if she distracts him or somehow becomes more important to him than certain other people–then she’s putting the entire world in danger. And, in a way, once everything is done she’ll probably stop seeing him as that vessel for world peace and start seeing him as a person.

I do think, depending on what SQ does for the Team Seven post-timeskip reunion, that I might be more inclined to see a Narukako (Shikaruto?) ship but as is… I only see something starting after everything is done and she’s been away for months, on a research trip, and she comes back and sees him doing something innocuous for him but mind-blowing for her. Like… one of those he’s-in-training-to-be-the-next-Hokage-and-he’s-actually-fantastic-at-it sort of things. While for him it’s kind of like… Shikako has always know what to do, but now that the crisis is over she’s kind of adrift, and he’s finally seeing the real her and not the stressed out and paranoid kunoichi he grew up with.

… ah shit, did I just talk myself into shipping it?

Hope I don’t throw you off your Sakako or DnD vibe or anything, but: Tokyo GhoulxDoS! In any way you want. I was specifically thinking of ghouls being actual lurkers in the DoS world That’d be an interesting mission, with a high chance of death.

image

I don’t know if you’re the same anon, but I checked these asks at the same time and they kind of fused together into a cool idea so… here’s a brainstorm:

I don’t really know much about Tokyo Ghoul except for the basics and what I could glean of the wiki page, but I kind of feel like the mass Edo Tensei would have some repercussions that could very easily be ghouls/half-ghouls existing alongside living humans and eating them for power etc. etc.

If anything, this seems like a pretty good premise world for next generation to live in.

Because, if you think about it, Naruto’s generation basically created world peace amongst the Elemental Nations so… why do shinobi still exist? Like, sure, civilians still want them to assassinate their enemies/kill off bandits/protect them from wildlife/do their chores etc. etc. But, you know, a good amount of the reason behind the Hidden Villages is a sort of cold war/collect more power thing, so maybe now instead of other villages they’re raised to hunt down ghouls and other creepy undead creatures that are the fallout of the mass Edo Tensei.

Which, I mean, Sakako’s ability to see ghosts would be helpful somehow? Like she can see un-enhanced ghosts easily, and while ghouls look like normal humans to other people they look a little off to Sakako. Like… they’re double layered or glowing weirdly or something that she can immediately spot if a person is a ghoul or a human.

It definitely ups the stakes for shinobi since ghouls are canonically faster/stronger/etc than humans so even the chakra-enhanced shinobi are maybe about on equal footing as ghouls (unless they’re like Lee in which case, no, he’s definitely faster than a ghoul). And maybe ghouls do prefer to eat shinobi–maybe chakra gives them more power/sustains them longer or something?

As for the title thing… I’m not very keen on Sakako inheriting her mother’s title as opposed to making one for herself, but when I tried to find a badass name for Sakako that was as punny as Shikabane for Shikako the only thing even slightly cool I could find was Sakarau (逆らう) which means to go against/oppose/defy and that’s not as on the nose as Shikabane-hime.

The “big bads” in next gen appear to be ~aliens~ via the Otsutsuki clan which… okay… and Shin Uchiha. Which is very next gen Team Seven problems considering the Otsutsuki clan seam to have a strong connection to the Hyuuga clan and Shin Uchiha was one of Orochimaru’s experiments with the Sharingan and that accounts for all three members of the next gen Team Seven.

But, again, that’s all inherited big bads from their parents which… I dunno, I kinda want them to have their own enemies/obstacles to defeat? So maybe there’s also a big bad who is gathering up ghouls or somehow responsible for producing more or SOMETHING so that this generation can have something to fight that isn’t just “sins of the father” because I do not support the parental complexes all of canon next gen seem to have, apparently.

Anon(s?) those are pretty cool ideas and I think I’ll incorporate it as a DoS next gen headcanon so I’ll make a Walking Around ‘verse note to myself to write something about how becoming an expert ghoul hunter gives Sakako a badass name? Or makes people have awful flashbacks to the carnage that her mother inflicted against zombies during the Fourth World War?

Something cool, hopefully. 😀

Okay but now I need to go through and figure this out in terms of classes. Which means most of them I’m going to stick to single classes because multiclassing bothers me on principle, at least as far as AU’s and identity of characters goes.

Masumi is like, 100% an Alchemist. The problem is that this isn’t a default class in any DnD books, but there’s enough homebrew and cultural ideas to it that I’m keeping it. (Alternatively: An Artificer whose really into potions and medicine.

Sakura might work best as a Monk or a Cleric? As a Monk, we’d have to find a way to hack the class to be a healer. But a Cleric of the Slug goddess or whatever would dovetail pretty well into her overall character arc. (Is Tsunade the current slug goddess or just the current high priest? Who knows. She could also lead the slug sect of healing-based Monkhood which would be cool.)

Youbirin is probably a Runepriest, a lesser-known 4e class, mostly because of his specialty in seals? Which translate well enough to runes.

Jiro is most likely a Shaman, Druid, or Favored Soul. The former two if you can find a way to focus him on lightning, and the lattermost otherwise because his focus is more on intuition than study like the other two.

Oooh, cool! I know basically the logistics of DnD but not so much the world (just started playing so still a newbie here), so those sound super cool.

I didn’t really know about Alchemists/Artificers and Runepriest but both of those sound excellent for Masumi and Youbirin. I guess since Masumi only happens to be medic nin because she wants to work with medicine and not so much that she wants to actually heal people. I was thinking Druid for Youbirin because his training montage with Takama and the Cranes, but Runepriest is fantastic.

I feel like as a fighter, Sakura is more Monk-like, but as a healer would be Cleric (of the Slug Goddess, yes perf). Unless there are Clerics that just specialize in unarmed combat (I know in High Rollers, Cam the Cleric is a very Rogue-like Cleric because his Goddess is all about luck and fortune and tricksters)?

I think probably not Druid for Jiro since he’s the only one out of the three that doesn’t have a summon animal… I considered Bard mostly because I headcanoned him as the most charming out of the three of them and since his whole thing is genjutsu-lightning-nervous system it kind of jives with a more human-based thing instead of a god-based source. But Shaman and Favored Soul is good, too.

an AU where whatever happened with the juubi and the Sage of Six Paths didn’t so much mark the beginning of ninja as it did take away people ability to use natural chakra. (so kind of backwards from how it’s usually portrayed.) Maybe the various clans and bloodlines are from people who- before that- knew how to use natural chakra.

That’s a pretty good idea, wildtabbykat!

I always figured–especially given the existence of the Gelel Empire–that chakra overlayed the previous magic-like system instead of introducing a brand new thing entirely, and that natural chakra was either a thing that you could or couldn’t use. Like you can’t just be taught and train in it if you don’t have the initial ability.

Like… I guess the easiest way to explain would be… I’ve read a couple of HPxNaruto crossovers and to mash up the terminology: Everyone, even Muggles, have chakra but the ability to use NATURAL chakra is for those who would be considered witches/wizards in the HP world. It’s just something you’re born with?

The various clans/blood limits (except for Juugo’s whose blood limit involves natural chakra) are independent of use natural chakra. It’s why not just anyone and their pet dog can become a Sage? Like… why are Orochimaru and Jiraiya sages, but Tsunade isn’t? I can’t really see any of the clans keeping their Sage knowledge to themselves if it is a matter of bloodline.

The Gelel thing is probably… the reason why so many of the Gelel fighters were surprised that the people of the Elemental Nations were putting up a decent defense is that chakra didn’t exist then. So before the Sage of Six Paths, the shinobi abilities would have been limited to the “magic-users” who are (if we’re still using HP standards) a significantly smaller part of the population.

Shikako being able to hear/activate the Gelel stone is because she’s the equivalent of a muggleborn when it comes to natural chakra (or maybe a half-blood? I dunno about Yoshino) whereas if Shikamaru touched it, it wouldn’t have done anything. It would’ve also done something if Naruto had touched it (I’m unsure if the Uzumaki vitality was something like a more stable version of Juugo’s clan’s blood limit, which would make Tsunade a squib in that case).

But then again, aren’t most of the Konoha bloodlines descended from the Sage of Six Paths anyway? Maybe after so many generations they’ve cultivated a blood limit, but lost the ability to use natural chakra and are all borderline squibs?

Then, since Shikako is heading to the Fire Temple to learn how to use natural chakra, the temple is a bit like Hogwarts meets Jedi Order? They probably don’t have jurisdiction in Konoha itself (which is why Team Seven flew under the radar) but maybe the monks travel around and gather possible sages to train them properly?

Would Sasuke want to revive the Uchiha as a clan unit as well a as a bloodline, do you think? Does he arrange get-togethers roughly the same way the Kunnoichi Club work[s/ed]? Like, all the kids get together, and he teaches them how to breathe fire, ’cause that’s an important tradition for the Uchiha. Now if only he could remember any others … eh, I’m sure he’ll think of something.

serketastrophizing:

jacksgreysays:

Probably? He definitely wants them to be connected to each other by more than blood–and he does teach all of them Grand Fireball when they turn seven, probably, but given that actual clan status (as the Nara go, anyway) involve things like clan tax and land/etc and there’s only one adult and maybe six kids at most they’re not really capable of being a clan yet. Eventually? But not yet.

Especially since they all live in different households raised by different people. Not sure if Sasuke arranges meetings with the kids. If so, it’s definitely infrequent.

Sakako is probably the oldest (maaaybe Sarada is older?) and so she and Sasuke get to make up the new Uchiha clan traditions. More like coming of age sort of things–seventh birthday, becoming a genin, etc etc. Maybe they get to learn Sasuke’s Fire variant of the chidori at age twelve?

Since the Uchiha matriarch-to-be is half Nara, it’s very possible that the fledgling Uchiha clan “officially” becomes an ally of the Akimichi-Nara-Yamanaka alliance and so there’s an exchange of benefits there. The new Uchiha clan get their ears pierced at becoming chuunin (maybe genin, too, like the A-N-Y clans, but definitely chuunin).

I was reading tumblr backlog a few hours ago, saw this ask, and immediately had thoughts. I spent a few hours writing, as this grew into a longer bunch of words than I expected, because I really like the NGSS as you’ve described them, and I like thinking about this version of the world. Only now, in the last step before posting, did I see some of your other asks, and I realized that I probably gave Sasuke the benefit of the doubt when I really shouldn’t have in my first read of Walking Around (Sharing the World). So, I guess this is speculation about a less-posessive-to-an-unhealthy-level Sasuke and what his family might look like: (under a cut, for length)

OMG THIS! THIS EXACTLY!

Though, just to let you know, Sasuke definitely did deserve the benefit of the doubt in Walking Around (Sharing the World). The Sasuke in WA(StW) is specifically through the lens of Sakako thinking about her parents’ relationship AND the NGSS. That kind of mixed up together so that the Sasuke you see in WA(StW) is him in his most jealous/possessive/bitter state.

Except for the part with trip to Sora-ku that didn’t have dialogue because that was meant to show how Shikako and Sasuke still have a good relationship and rapport, more so when he doesn’t have to even consider the NGSS/Gaara. Sasuke in Walking Around (Like Regular People) is the norm, Sasuke in WA(StW) is not.

But that being said, I super agree with everything you’ve said here. He’s definitely going to do more research into his clan–especially after the whole Danzo/attempted coup thing comes out because it’s a very complicated situation. No, they didn’t deserve to be killed and Danzo’s a rat bastard for having gotten away with it and his creepy Sharingan fetish, but it wasn’t the perfect clan that he remembered. Actually, he didn’t even remember it as all that perfect considering Fugaku was a shitty dad and Mikoto was far too passive with that, given that headcanon/fandom!Mikoto would not have put up with that bullshit.

But still. Sasuke, with his team, do go through as much of the Uchiha clan lands/holdings/ruins/libraries together and some of the traditions he keeps, others he discards. I think it’d be interesting if he and Tsunade bond somehow as the last of their clans and Team Seven also go through Senju clan stuff for her and incorporate that into the new Uchiha clan or the new Uzumaki clan. Yes, they also go to Uzushio. (I’m not sure about Namikaze? Is it a canon thing or a fandom thing, but I always though Minato was civilian stock orphan or something…)

The way I figure, clans are probably like companies? With the big clans being huge conglomerates and the smaller ones being more like small businesses. Especially when it comes to the Akimichi-Nara-Yamanaka who probably give each other discounts on things and have internal departments that seamlessly work together. Take the Nara medicine for the Akimichi food pills/cure, no doubt created from carefully cultivated plants from the Yamanaka.

Also, how the Nara have a separate R&D from the village’s. Shikako’s seals make the clan money because she develops them/gets them approved through the Nara R&D as opposed to going to the village’s R&D. TenTen gets a percentage of it even though she’s not a Nara because she basically is an independent contractor.

I’m certain the Akimichi own restaurants in the village and pretty sure that they own restaurants in other cities/towns. The Uchiha probably own most if not all of Sora-ku and no doubt other properties in Land of Fire. They’re a Noble Clan, after all, and not even the Senju were a Noble Clan (even though three out of seven of the Hokage were Senju).

Probably the burgeoning Uchiha clan 2.0 doesn’t have much to offer to the A-N-Y alliance yet besides whatever money became Sasuke’s as sole legal heir to the clan, but they probably will one day and the A-N-Y alliance can be investors or something, if we continue with the company metaphor.

[It’s probably why the Hyuuga Clan can get away with ACTUAL SLAVERY because not only are they a Noble Clan, but they’re probably ridiculously wealthy (alongside being Konoha’s most powerful bloodline after the Sharingan became endangered). And in the real world, the biggest/richest companies are always the ones that can get away with the worst shit]

The Sasuke of DoS hasn’t completely fucked up his life–he still has the same hardships, but instead of shooting himself in the foot and making it worse, he’s willing to trust his friends and ask for help. Which is why DoS Sasuke is better than canon Sasuke.

OMGOODNESS next gen team seven sounds hilarious! I’m kind of imagining Boruto and Sakako’s relation ship like how their dad’s started out but, y’know… different… Anyways, then her and Boruto bond during a desperate situation when one of their missions goes awry and they’re separated from their senses and Mitsuki

Next Gen Team Seven really is a bunch of misfits… almost more than canon original Team Seven given that instead of the Boruto=Naruto, Sarada=Sakura, and Mitsuki=Sasuke setup that Kishimoto was no doubt going for, it becomes Sakako=Sasuke and Mitsuki=Sakura and that’s HILARIOUS. Not in their preteen crush kind of way, but just as their personalities/origins/dynamics.

Boruto and Sakako do not get along at all. Mitsuki is a weird fanboy of all of the original DoS Team Seven so he’s not biased towards one or the other buuuuuut he’s not exactly the bridge between the two of them.

Ah, yeah, she and Boruto eventually bond–no doubt during a mission gone wrong as you said. Probably her ability to see ghosts is part of the reason why they bond: that’s how they escape the situation that separated them from Mitsuki and Konohamaru-sensei. His ghosts guide them out maybe? And he promises to keep her secret.
