Ask Box Three Sentence Fic, 14/? (2016-11-08)

(1 – anonymous – Team Seven, any!AU, fluffy… @eatthemallplease’s creature!AU)

Shikako gasps softly, fingers brushing against the downy feathers along the nape of Sasuke’s neck–he sits stiffly, displeased, but reluctantly lets her continue.

“Naruto, come here!” she calls, waving their third teammate closer, his grin and wagging tail far too amused.

“We’re all fluffy!”

(2 – anonymous – Team Seven, fluffy family/platonic cuddling… same creature!AU)

“Ow, ow, ow,” Sasuke complains, completely deadpan, “You’re on my wing, dead last.”

“Yeah, well, Shikako’s antlers are jabbing me in the neck,” Naruto shoots back, shifting around, ears flat against his head.

“Sorry,” she mutters, rearing her head back and out of the way–at least this isn’t as bad as that one time she and Shikamaru accidentally locked antlers as children and had to wait for Dad to come home to untangle them.

(3 – anonymous – Shikako & Ino, Take A Step That Is New ‘verse, Ino’s first date with Sakura)

“What do you think: this dress or this one?” Ino asks, uncharacteristically nervous, holding up two hangers for Shikako’s judgement.

“Um…” Shikako says, glancing between the dresses and the screen divider splitting Ino’s room in half, “I think Sakura will like either of them?”

Ino groans, discarding both of them and diving back into her closet–and Shikako takes the opportunity to go around the screen divider and join Sakura who is waiting, sitting with a pleased blush on her face.

(4 – @donapoetrypassion – Shikamaru & Yoshino, Stars Also Dream ‘verse, something he gets from his mother)

Shikamaru truly is his father’s son, a Nara through and through, a good heir to the clan–but that does not mean he hasn’t inherited anything from you.

You see it in his eyes, in his actions, the way he holds the few people he loves close and dearly, possessive of the few he lets through his barriers.

Shikako can make friends easily, connecting with them, not just the shallow amiability you perform; but you and your son play for keeps.

(5 – anonymous – Shikako/??, dark side of the moon)

She stares up at the sky, a thought nagging away at her that she can’t quite articulate.

A pair of arms curl around her: part of her wants to just lean into the embrace, to close her eyes and turn away and enjoy how happy she is now.

Another part of her knows something isn’t quite right.

Sasuke/Itachi, canon!DoS, after the truth comes out

I’m interpreting this as a platonic Sasuke & Itachi relationship because… incest is not my thing… but regardless I don’t know if I can fill this prompt because, well, at some point Sasuke is going to find out the truth in canon!DoS and I wouldn’t want to presume how Silver Queen handles that.

Maybe I can fill a different prompt for you, anon?

Shikako, Stars Also Dream-verse, “Jedi exist – oh fml” rant (same SAD anon, thanks for the first one! XD)

You’re welcome, anon! Glad you like that series 🙂

Unfortunately, Shikako finding out the truth of Jedi/her mum being one is kind of an important plot/emotional point (or, at least, I’m hoping it will be) in SAD so I don’t think I’ll be filling it here for the Three-Sentence-Fic-Meme. Thanks for the prompt, though, you can send in a different one if you’d like?

Three Sentence Fic : sasukako dealing with Pregnancy (°▽°)

Hey anon, thanks for the prompt, but I already have a Shikako/Sasuke dealing with pregnancy prompt lined up for full fic not the Three-Sentence-Fic-Meme fic. I will hopefuly get to that sooner rather than later?

It’ll probably be called something like Walking Around (Down Every Road) since it’s a little bit of a crossover between my two series.

Ask Box Three Sentence Fic, 13/? (2016-11-07)

(1 – anonymous – Team Seven, Ghostbusters!AU, crazy tech that’s ‘probably’ safe)

“It’s a ghost vacuum,” Shikako explains of the series of tubes and canisters that Naruto prods curiously, “It has a ninety six percent chance of siphoning and containing a ghost possessing anything, even a person.”

“What’s the other four percent?” Sasuke asks dubiously.

Shikako grins, wide and completely suspicious, “Well… it might just suck out the user’s soul instead–but that’s within the margin of error, so the ghost vacuum is totally safe!”

(2 – anonymous – Shikako & Yoshino, Stars Also Dream ‘verse, Yoshino tries out Shikako’s ‘lightsaber’)

As far as your daughter is concerned, you are not a kenjutsu specialist, but she see’s no harm in letting you try out her newest sword.

It activates with an eerily similar sound, but no accompanying vibration in the Force–fuinjutsu, not crystals, and your daughter didn’t make it herself, but you think the yellow blade suits her.

You deactivate and return it after a moment, hand clenching around emptiness: nothing will compare to your own lightsaber.

(3 – anonymous – Sakako & Itachi, Walking Around ‘verse, fluffy)

Dad summons hawks, Mum summons deer–even if the deer contract didn’t have to go back to the Nara clan, neither of them feel right to her.

Itachi-oji sits beside her on the veranda, calm and translucent like the steam rising from her tea cup.

Silence is as much a part of their relationship as talking; after a few minutes, Itachi-oji suggests, “What about cats?”

(4 – anonymous – Shikako & Chiyako, admiration)

It’s not too surprising, really, admiration for childhood heroes turning into respect as she gets older.

Shikako-nee is kind and smart and strong, a credit to the village and her clan, a good role model for a young girl, even the future Aburame matriarch.

Chiyako keeps the friendship bracelet long after the thread has worn away.

(5 – anonymous – Academy Teacher Shino, Next Gen DoS, landscape changing legacy)

Shino comes to the Academy early in the morning to prepare for the day, a bit of calm before the chaos that makes up his class.

Amusingly, he knows many of this class comes by it naturally: the children of his friends, all of whom have less than orderly dispositions.

He chuckles, sound muffled by the collar of his coat, bringing out the detailed map of the Elemental Nations–today’s lesson is about his friends’ other legacies.

A/N: I think I’d like to slow down on the Three Sentence Fic Meme for now, maybe only one or two more installments, so put your last prompt in the askbox today.

Post Word Count: 344, Running Word Count: 2439

(Hope you’re still taking these prompts?) Team 7, Post-plot! DOS AU (I guess it’s an AU? idk haha). Could you continue that wanderlust!Team7 you had a while ago? I really loved that haha<3

I actually have yet to write that wanderlust!Team Seven fic, anon, though it is on my list for not-Three-Sentence-Fic-Meme fic so, unfortunately, I will not be writing that for the meme but I will be writing that eventually (… hopefully).

Although, now that you bring it up, it would be interesting if it’s in a three sentence fic format since, well, there are three of them…

Shikako, canon!DoS, someone falls in love/gets a crush after Shikako saved them/their village & she’s so badass, then proceeds to make a song about Shikako that’s, like, reminiscent of Miss Jackson by P!atD (minus the sexual undertones lol). Shikako is surprised as it hits the top charts.

… I… what is this? Do you want me to write a song? Do I need to somehow establish how the music industry works in the Naruto world which has trains as high tech at one point and, somehow, laptops about two decades later all within three sentences? Is this Shikako reacting to the song about her, or the popularity of the song about her, or the fact that someone is apparently in love with her after she does a no doubt mostly run-of-the-mill village/country saving mission?

You’ve already written your three sentence fic, anon:

Shikako saves a village. One of the villagers falls in love with her and writes a song about her that becomes famous. Upon hearing that song, Shikako is surprised.

… did you maybe want to parse down and reword your prompt, anon, or try a different prompt entirely?

Next Generation Academy Teachers, canon!DOS, the “Shikako” lessons

jacksgreysays:

Sorry, anon, I’m not sure I understand this one–could you clarify what you’re prompting?

As far as I know, Shino (and, maybe, Iruka-sensei) are the only specified Academy teachers for Next Gen kids.

Also, by “Shikako lessons” do you mean the exploding tags lessons or lessons about Shikako? In which case… why would they have lessons about Shikako? The Academy would be teaching students how to be shinobi and while ninja history is part of that, it would be a really brief thing and not really focus on specific people so much unless it’s how to interpret a bingo book page?

Hm… so something like… “Academy Teacher Shino, Next Gen DoS, landscape-changing legacy,” anon?

simmonsized:

iemma-swan:

one of the saddest things is when a show you invested so much of your time into and became emotionally attached to seriously fucks up and you are no longer captivated by it whether it’s because of illogical plots with zero substance, ooc characters, sexist writing or because the show kills off and treats minorities horrendously, and all you have left is this bitterness at how things turned out because something that once made you happy now leaves you emotionally and mentally drained.

This may sound weird (or maybe it doesn’t considering this is tumblr) but you’re allowed to break up with your show.

I once had to explain what fandom was to a class full of people who had no idea what that term was or even the depths of what it meant to fans within it (as opposed to the more casual fans who like the thing but don’t engage with it outside of the original thing), and the easiest way I could get them to understand was that fandom is like a relationship.

There is the show and there are the fans and, for the most part, it’s a cycle of give and take. The show gives fans entertainment and ideas, the fans give the show support and transformative works, and as long as this balance remains then that’s fine.

But what happens when, as per OP’s example, the show seriously fucks up–awful writing, disgusting bigotry, etc? Well, then the show is no longer giving entertainment and ideas–or, at least, not any ideas the fans want a part of–and since they’re no longer holding up their end of the relationship, balance is lost.

It’s okay to break up with your show. It’s no longer making you happy, clearly, and you shouldn’t be expected to support something that only takes and takes and takes. Break up with your show before it’s too late, before all you can feel when you think of it is rage and disappointment and disgust, before all the current episodes taint the early ones that made you fall in love. Keep your good memories. Make your transformative works only seasons one through three compliant. That epilogue never happened for you? That’s okay.

You’re allowed to break up with your show.
