Ask Box Three Sentence Fic, 15/? (2016-11-09)

(1 – anonymous – Shikako/Itachi, Death and the Maiden?… I don’t know this movie/play if that’s what you’re asking for, so here’s a more literal interpretation)

Itachi Uchiha is a dead man walking, the countdown on his life swift and guaranteed: the only question is whether it will be his eyes, his lungs, or his brother that kills him.

As it turns out–it’s none of the above.

“Your time is up,” says the Shinigami, reaching a hand toward him, and the last thing that Itachi thinks is that it looks remarkably like his brother’s teammate.

(2 – anonymous – Shikako/Gaara, soulmate!AU?, red string of fate)

It’s a good thing soulmates are the only one who can see their shared string, Shikako thinks, staring blankly at the ethereal red thread tied around her pinky.

Otherwise, it’d be such a point of weakness for any shinobi.

“Soulmate,” says Gaara, voice raspy but still perfectly audible–of course, she sighs internally, ignoring the gasps around her, it only works if the soulmates keep quiet about it.

(3 – anonymous – Shikako/Sasuke, Avatar the Last Airbender!AU)

Shikako literally stumbles upon him, tripping over his bedroll and legs–needless to say, it’s a less than graceful start.

His first instinct is to summon a flame which, given the dark night, would have been smart if he weren’t literally in the middle of Earth Kingdom territory.

In seconds, she has him encased in rock… but the resignation in his eyes makes her release him.

(4 – anonymous – Kakashi & Team Seven, Next Gen DoS, changes for the better)

Kakashi can’t forget the way his students looked after everything: bleeding and drained, war weary in a way he never wanted for them…

But at least they were alive–and alive meant they could heal, even if it took time and distance and the possibility of spiraling apart completely.

Now, decades later, smiling at his honorary grandchildren, he thinks that they’ve all turned out alright.

(5 – anonymous, canon!Team Ten & DoS!Ino, the differences between the two Ino)

Ino is released after a short meeting with her father-but-not, deemed a non threat but still in need of monitoring–who better to monitor Ino than herself and her team-but-not?

Chouji is a welcome, familiar sight, but it’s a shock to see herself without slit pupils, to see Shikamaru with both arms still, and at first she begins to feel a little bit jealous…

… until the topic moves onto how she ended up in this dimension.

Forget jealousy, Ino can’t wait until Shikako brings her home.

A/N: So this is the last one for now, I’ll come back to this someday but I think I’m done. It was fun and I really appreciate everyone who participated 🙂

Ask Box Three Sentence Fic, 14/? (2016-11-08)

(1 – anonymous – Team Seven, any!AU, fluffy… @eatthemallplease’s creature!AU)

Shikako gasps softly, fingers brushing against the downy feathers along the nape of Sasuke’s neck–he sits stiffly, displeased, but reluctantly lets her continue.

“Naruto, come here!” she calls, waving their third teammate closer, his grin and wagging tail far too amused.

“We’re all fluffy!”

(2 – anonymous – Team Seven, fluffy family/platonic cuddling… same creature!AU)

“Ow, ow, ow,” Sasuke complains, completely deadpan, “You’re on my wing, dead last.”

“Yeah, well, Shikako’s antlers are jabbing me in the neck,” Naruto shoots back, shifting around, ears flat against his head.

“Sorry,” she mutters, rearing her head back and out of the way–at least this isn’t as bad as that one time she and Shikamaru accidentally locked antlers as children and had to wait for Dad to come home to untangle them.

(3 – anonymous – Shikako & Ino, Take A Step That Is New ‘verse, Ino’s first date with Sakura)

“What do you think: this dress or this one?” Ino asks, uncharacteristically nervous, holding up two hangers for Shikako’s judgement.

“Um…” Shikako says, glancing between the dresses and the screen divider splitting Ino’s room in half, “I think Sakura will like either of them?”

Ino groans, discarding both of them and diving back into her closet–and Shikako takes the opportunity to go around the screen divider and join Sakura who is waiting, sitting with a pleased blush on her face.

(4 – @donapoetrypassion – Shikamaru & Yoshino, Stars Also Dream ‘verse, something he gets from his mother)

Shikamaru truly is his father’s son, a Nara through and through, a good heir to the clan–but that does not mean he hasn’t inherited anything from you.

You see it in his eyes, in his actions, the way he holds the few people he loves close and dearly, possessive of the few he lets through his barriers.

Shikako can make friends easily, connecting with them, not just the shallow amiability you perform; but you and your son play for keeps.

(5 – anonymous – Shikako/??, dark side of the moon)

She stares up at the sky, a thought nagging away at her that she can’t quite articulate.

A pair of arms curl around her: part of her wants to just lean into the embrace, to close her eyes and turn away and enjoy how happy she is now.

Another part of her knows something isn’t quite right.

Ask Box Three Sentence Fic, 13/? (2016-11-07)

(1 – anonymous – Team Seven, Ghostbusters!AU, crazy tech that’s ‘probably’ safe)

“It’s a ghost vacuum,” Shikako explains of the series of tubes and canisters that Naruto prods curiously, “It has a ninety six percent chance of siphoning and containing a ghost possessing anything, even a person.”

“What’s the other four percent?” Sasuke asks dubiously.

Shikako grins, wide and completely suspicious, “Well… it might just suck out the user’s soul instead–but that’s within the margin of error, so the ghost vacuum is totally safe!”

(2 – anonymous – Shikako & Yoshino, Stars Also Dream ‘verse, Yoshino tries out Shikako’s ‘lightsaber’)

As far as your daughter is concerned, you are not a kenjutsu specialist, but she see’s no harm in letting you try out her newest sword.

It activates with an eerily similar sound, but no accompanying vibration in the Force–fuinjutsu, not crystals, and your daughter didn’t make it herself, but you think the yellow blade suits her.

You deactivate and return it after a moment, hand clenching around emptiness: nothing will compare to your own lightsaber.

(3 – anonymous – Sakako & Itachi, Walking Around ‘verse, fluffy)

Dad summons hawks, Mum summons deer–even if the deer contract didn’t have to go back to the Nara clan, neither of them feel right to her.

Itachi-oji sits beside her on the veranda, calm and translucent like the steam rising from her tea cup.

Silence is as much a part of their relationship as talking; after a few minutes, Itachi-oji suggests, “What about cats?”

(4 – anonymous – Shikako & Chiyako, admiration)

It’s not too surprising, really, admiration for childhood heroes turning into respect as she gets older.

Shikako-nee is kind and smart and strong, a credit to the village and her clan, a good role model for a young girl, even the future Aburame matriarch.

Chiyako keeps the friendship bracelet long after the thread has worn away.

(5 – anonymous – Academy Teacher Shino, Next Gen DoS, landscape changing legacy)

Shino comes to the Academy early in the morning to prepare for the day, a bit of calm before the chaos that makes up his class.

Amusingly, he knows many of this class comes by it naturally: the children of his friends, all of whom have less than orderly dispositions.

He chuckles, sound muffled by the collar of his coat, bringing out the detailed map of the Elemental Nations–today’s lesson is about his friends’ other legacies.

A/N: I think I’d like to slow down on the Three Sentence Fic Meme for now, maybe only one or two more installments, so put your last prompt in the askbox today.

Post Word Count: 344, Running Word Count: 2439

Shikako, canon!DoS, someone falls in love/gets a crush after Shikako saved them/their village & she’s so badass, then proceeds to make a song about Shikako that’s, like, reminiscent of Miss Jackson by P!atD (minus the sexual undertones lol). Shikako is surprised as it hits the top charts.

… I… what is this? Do you want me to write a song? Do I need to somehow establish how the music industry works in the Naruto world which has trains as high tech at one point and, somehow, laptops about two decades later all within three sentences? Is this Shikako reacting to the song about her, or the popularity of the song about her, or the fact that someone is apparently in love with her after she does a no doubt mostly run-of-the-mill village/country saving mission?

You’ve already written your three sentence fic, anon:

Shikako saves a village. One of the villagers falls in love with her and writes a song about her that becomes famous. Upon hearing that song, Shikako is surprised.

… did you maybe want to parse down and reword your prompt, anon, or try a different prompt entirely?

Next Generation Academy Teachers, canon!DOS, the “Shikako” lessons

jacksgreysays:

Sorry, anon, I’m not sure I understand this one–could you clarify what you’re prompting?

As far as I know, Shino (and, maybe, Iruka-sensei) are the only specified Academy teachers for Next Gen kids.

Also, by “Shikako lessons” do you mean the exploding tags lessons or lessons about Shikako? In which case… why would they have lessons about Shikako? The Academy would be teaching students how to be shinobi and while ninja history is part of that, it would be a really brief thing and not really focus on specific people so much unless it’s how to interpret a bingo book page?

Hm… so something like… “Academy Teacher Shino, Next Gen DoS, landscape-changing legacy,” anon?

(1 – anonymous – more 2.1, Naruto/Shikako, soulmate!AU)

Shikako has always known–even if her parents hadn’t sat her down and explained to her, she would’ve figured it out on her own, spiral seals on her skin containing nothing.

But soulmates are vulnerabilities, any shinobi’s ultimate weakness, and she won’t let herself be used against him.

Naruto learns to read from the words painted beneath long sleeves, short apologies and pleads to stay safe and little notes that make his days less awful.

image

(2 – anonymous – Shikako, KHR fusion/crossover, unexpected)

The Nara clan have been predominantly Rain types–laziness just one step off from tranquility–action from strategy, strategy from logic, logic from calm.

Storm is passion, chaos and destruction, almost the opposite of Rain.

One day, Shikako will learn to balance the two–or at least, she hopes so, trying not to wince at the wreckage around her.

image

(3 – @celsiahawthorn – Shikako & Tobirama, Semi-Phenomenal, Nearly Cosmic, Tobirama’s POV)

Tobirama is desperate–no more lost brothers, he prays–final gambit flowing from heart to mind to reality; he will gladly give his life and soul to the Shinigami if Hashirama and the village survive.

Shikako, thankfully, requires less than that, stepping forward, determined and prepared, shadows lashing out and carving an array of seals on the ground.

True, he is a fuinjutsu master, but so is Shikako, standing on the shoulders of giants.

image

(4 – anonymous – Special Jounin crew, complaining about Shikako)

The first time Shikako gives them the slip, it skips impressive and amusing and goes straight to aggravating and requiring vengeance–morning training with Gai, enough said.

The second time, it becomes a competition that continues through the third, fourth, fifth, sixth…

By attempt thirty eight, it becomes a bitter gruelling necessity.

image

(5 – anonymous – Shikako, temporary Academy teacher)

“So you’re all, what, eight?” Shikako asks the crowd of small faces staring at her, trying not to break out into hives at all the attention.

“Let’s see,” she mutters to herself, feeling the seconds slip by and the silence grow and the awkward need to fill it with something, anything, “what was I learning when I was eight?”

Needless to say, teaching eight year olds how to draw exploding tags probably wasn’t her best idea–she is never asked to substitute at the Academy ever again.

A/N: I have a sort of idea of what I would want a KHRxDoS fusion to be like, and I wrote a brainstorm for it, but I don’t think I’ll ever actually write it.
