It’s October 4th! That means Silver Queen is a year older! Some folks got together and made a collection on AO3 for SQ’s birthday, and it’s full of works you can look at right now.
Happy birthday, Silver Queen! Thank you for your wonderful fic of monstrous length. Our vague theme was focusing on ways Shikako has improved people’s lives.
The collection is open and unmoderated, so anyone who wants to add a belated gift to the collection should feel free to do so.

While I do enjoy the imagery and, no doubt, absolute terror that would invoke, I’m not sure it’s something Shikako would want to do given her canonical dislike of bugs and a more general concern about stinging insects inside her body.
Also, pretty sure you can’t store living things in seals?
But you know who IS a bug-based kunoichi who is cute enough that swarm of insects coming out of her mouth would be horrifying and cripplingly effective? Chiyako.
And since, well, I kinda like the idea of her being a more combat Aburame than Shino (whose hive is more tracking/intel gathering) swarms of bees/wasps would be preeeetty great for her.
Other things being shot out of Shikako’s mouth at high speeds would be pretty fun. Never mind the fact that she could do a human Water Gun (in the Pokemon sense) if she tweaks the speed and pressure of the canonical water seals, just her shooting out random food at her enemy (if, for example, her arms are tied so she can’t do any jutsu, she’d just shoot out, like, ration bars and bewilder her opponents). Smoke would be fairly effective for a similar reason, if she can figure out how to harvest enough for a seal, and that way she can turn into her shadow form without anyone seeing.
I know I’ve already referenced The Hangover over in this fake fic title brainstorm but just the title alone for this one feels more Hangover-esque.
So I’m thinking pre-graduation for Team Ebisu (Konohamaru, Moegi, and Udon) and Team Hana (Hanabi, Chiyako, and Ranmaru) on a field trip / survival training / group project of sorts with Iruka-sensei as the bewildered chaperone.
And while they’re not on par with Team Seven, these six are a heady mixture ready to blow. So maybe it’s something like six soon to be genin are sent on a D-rank mission–considering rising tensions and potential war on the horizon, official genin are being used on more critical missions and students are being transitioned into proper mission etiquette, etc. etc.
Anyway, temporary Team Iruka shenanigans. On the one hand, Iruka is very responsible so he shouldn’t lose track of his team (like a certain elite jounin who will not be named), but on the other hand the six students he has on his temporary team are very… strong-willed. And powerful.
Poor Iruka. He probably thought he was done with the chaos when Konoha Twelve graduated. -_-
I’m not sure what D-rank is… I mean catching Tora the cat seems like the obvious choice, but with a Hyuuga and an Aburame and four other to-be-genin, it would be overkill wouldn’t it? Then again, that’s the only D-rank mission iconic enough to be shenanigans-filled so…
Yeah. I mean, its the Inuzuka that really make catching Tora a cakewalk, and since this is without Hana as jounin sensei, it would be enough of a challenge. It’s not as if the Hyuuga train to specifically tell different cats apart, and I feel like Chiyako’s hives are a little more combat specialized than tracking specialized. I mean, still some tracking because kikaichu, but not as good as Shino.
So catching Tora. This damn cat has gotten especially wily over the years and its not like Konoha bystanders are going to help temporary Team Iruka with it (its a right of passage, and no one else wants to touch that hell cat) no matter how fond of Iruka-sensei everyone is.
I don’t know what else specifically I want from this story. So here’s a summary to finish things off:
The Homework
Team Iruka receive the mission to find Tora the cat with the biggest stakes on the line:
No, not impressing the Fire Lady, passing the class!
(Or, Konohamaru accidentally spends a day with his uncle, Moegi fights her fears, Udon learns more about himself, Ranmaru makes a new friend, Hanabi loses some dignity, Chiyako takes a chance, and Iruka-sensei can’t catch a break.)
“It’s a ghost vacuum,” Shikako explains of the series of tubes and canisters that Naruto prods curiously, “It has a ninety six percent chance of siphoning and containing a ghost possessing anything, even a person.”
“What’s the other four percent?” Sasuke asks dubiously.
Shikako grins, wide and completely suspicious, “Well… it might just suck out the user’s soul instead–but that’s within the margin of error, so the ghost vacuum is totally safe!”

As far as your daughter is concerned, you are not a kenjutsu specialist, but she see’s no harm in letting you try out her newest sword.
It activates with an eerily similar sound, but no accompanying vibration in the Force–fuinjutsu, not crystals, and your daughter didn’t make it herself, but you think the yellow blade suits her.
You deactivate and return it after a moment, hand clenching around emptiness: nothing will compare to your own lightsaber.
Dad summons hawks, Mum summons deer–even if the deer contract didn’t have to go back to the Nara clan, neither of them feel right to her.
Itachi-oji sits beside her on the veranda, calm and translucent like the steam rising from her tea cup.
Silence is as much a part of their relationship as talking; after a few minutes, Itachi-oji suggests, “What about cats?”

It’s not too surprising, really, admiration for childhood heroes turning into respect as she gets older.
Shikako-nee is kind and smart and strong, a credit to the village and her clan, a good role model for a young girl, even the future Aburame matriarch.
Chiyako keeps the friendship bracelet long after the thread has worn away.

(5 – anonymous – Academy Teacher Shino, Next Gen DoS, landscape changing legacy)
Shino comes to the Academy early in the morning to prepare for the day, a bit of calm before the chaos that makes up his class.
Amusingly, he knows many of this class comes by it naturally: the children of his friends, all of whom have less than orderly dispositions.
He chuckles, sound muffled by the collar of his coat, bringing out the detailed map of the Elemental Nations–today’s lesson is about his friends’ other legacies.

A/N: I think I’d like to slow down on the Three Sentence Fic Meme for now, maybe only one or two more installments, so put your last prompt in the askbox today.
If you look closely at Sakako’s section in Our Share of the World and in the later part of Walking Around (Like Regular People) I mentioned that Sakako’s genin teammates were likely to be Boruto and Mitsuki since, like Shikako did with Sakura, Sakako would take Sarada’s place. (And the Academy teachers probably figure that since Boruto is Naruto’s son and Sakako is Shikako and Sasuke’s daughter, they’d minimize the next gen Lucky Seven effect and keep it as much to one team as possible. :P)
Unless that was a typo and you meant the Walking Around version of Sarada? In which case… I kind of briefly touched on it in this post, but now that I think more strongly on it… I’d think she’d end up on Team Chiyako (aka Shino’s little sister as their jounin sensei) wiiiiiith Sarada Haruno, as of yet unknown Inuzuka of this generation (whether Hana’s kid or Kiba’s kid or just some other Inuzuka), and a genjutsu user. Possibly of Yakumo’s clan or even Yakumo’s adopted child (I don’t think she’d want to have biological children and risk her condition being passed down).
Or, if Chiyako has already ascended as Aburame matriarch and isn’t available to be a jounin sensei, then it’d be Team Ranmaru with Sarada, next gen Inuzuka, and next gen Aburame (Shino’s kid or some other Aburame).
Either way, they would be more a support type team (like my *fingers crossed* prediction for Team Anko composed of Sakura, Yakumo, and Isaribi) or a search and rescue type team (like I headcanon for Team Hana aka my prediction for what will happen to Hanabi, Chiyako, and Ranmaru that I made long long ago in Don’t Hold Back) instead of the POWERHOUSES of Team Sevens past.
(Ah, now I don’t know if I should tag Sarada posts as Sarada Haruno to differentiate her from canon Sarada. I mean, she’s still genetically canon Sarada. But her backstory is waaaaaay different and she’d actually go by Sarada Haruno instead of Sarada Uchiha.
