Team 7 in the royalty au?

Hm… I haven’t really considered this, anon, mostly because in my head the royalty!AU is, specifically, a Shikaara!AU so I hadn’t even really though of the rest of Team Seven.

But, like… I guess now I’m wondering how much carries over to this AU. Did the Uchiha massacre still happen? Did the fall of Uzushio still happen? Are the bijuu even a thing in this AU? And then after deciding those, to match everyone with their respective clan prestige, Sasuke would be much the same–second son of a Noble Clan Head–and Naruto would be… I guess he’d be the lost prince of Uzushio?

Um. Which sounds pretty cool, if I’m going to be honest…

Oh. I know.

So this would probably happen before the actual Shikaara events–that is, before Temari’s coronation–because I’m pretty sure Shikako and her age mates are approximately university age which means late teens at youngest (but preferably in their twenties because tabloid speculation about minors is skeezy and makes me sad).

And I guess the idea is that as actual teenagers (secondary/high school age) with Kakashi as bewildered and skeptical chaperone, Team Seven goes on some kind of Nancy Drew-esque escapade to solve the mystery of Naruto’s past. Because, even though he does go to the same upper class Fire Country school that all the other noble kids and various scholarship kids do, he’s mostly known as the weird kid that the eccentric Lady Senju dotes on.

Aaaaand then it turns out he’s the prince of Uzushio-now-Wave (because for simplicity’s sake, it makes sense to conflate them) and his family had been overthrown ages ago by Gatou?

And more escapades in which the people of Wave/Uzushio rise up against Gatou’s tyranny and reinstate Naruto… who doesn’t really want to rule just yet? (Why yes, I am just adapting the Snow Country plot into this ‘verse, but didn’t the Snow Country plot just basically copy paste the Wave Country arc?)

So, I mean. Shikako’s encounter with Gaara isn’t her first brush with actual royalty.

I think in this AU Fire Country is run by a five clan oligarchy–with the Senju, Uchiha, Akimichi, Hyuuga, and Aburame–instead of a single monarchy. So her friendship with Sasuke and Naruto actually elevates her status, even though that’s obviously not at all why she befriended them.

Erm… I guess brainstorm fill instead of prose fill, if that’s cool with you, anon.

Hisae Kaiza’s calligraphy school is, in certain circles, well-renowned–just not in the world of professional, traditional calligraphy.

No, Hisae Kaiza’s calligraphy school is far more prestigious than that.

After all, no other school teaches its students how to mold the universe to their will.

She never did calligraphy in her first life: it wasn’t practical enough for her and so she went another route–aikido she did to spar with Ryohei, but archery had always been for herself.

A bow, an arrow, a target in sight; only one chance to make a mark.

She hasn’t felt peace like this in a long time.

Grandmother doesn’t care for the spirit world–it’s taken so much from her, she’d rather die than fall for Enma’s false promises again–but the human world is still hers to protect.

Or, at least, have Tetsuki protect it on her behalf.

“Hmph, mind control bugs, how unimaginative,” Grandmother scoffs, handing over a stack of ofuda and sending her off like a child on her first day of school, “There you go, my dear, and if you find those other students of mine send them my way.”

She doesn’t care about Shuichi Minamino’s true nature. She was friends with the host of a kyuubi–a single tail kitsune isn’t even a blip on her radar.

If anything, it’s his human side that’s the problem.

Maya Kitajima is her best friend: she only has the one friend, so it’s not a very difficult position to achieve.

“There’s something about him,” Maya sighs dreamily, while Tetsuki does the same in a far more exasperated manner–it’s fine, she won’t remember it in five minutes, “As if maybe in another life we might have had a fateful encounter.”

Tetsuki knows all about other lives: Maya’s situation has less to do with reincarnation and everything to do with the amnesia pollen that Shuichi Minamino dosed her with last year.

Something that struck me the first time I watched Moana was how similar the spiral on the boat’s sail was to the Uzumaki Spiral; they both look like a crashing wave if you look at them with the right mindset.

Given the importance of the ocean to both island cultures, its not surprising that both utilize spirals as their symbol of mystical badassery. But now that you bring it up, I’m imagining Uzushio also being a voyager society and that is SO DOPE?!

Like. I shouldered my way into a rant about how the Uchiha clan probably isn’t as extinct as it seems on paper and I’ve always had so many overflowing feels about Uzushio, so this is a FANTASTIC possible solution to that, anon, so thanks!

Because. Just. Obviously, a good chunk of Uzushio did die. But maybe not as many as we think. Maybe some of them did flee to the mainland, leading to the smattering of Uzushio descendants that we know from canon (and some that we don’t necessarily know–but I have separate headcanons for that). But what if the rest of them just left?

Maybe at first, they hid. Even if their barrier failed to stop the incursion from Mist (though I follow @blackkatmagic​’s theory on Danzo being involved in some internal sabotage there) there’s no way NO ONE was able to get to some kind of failsafe shelters for noncombatants. Konoha’s “secret” shelters/bunkers inside the Hokage mountain cannot be the only kind of fortified fallback.

So maybe they hid. They hid for as long as they could, for as long as their supplies would last. They waited for Konoha to send reinforcements or aid or anything that their alliance should have guaranteed for them. But nothing. Because Danzo（╬ಠ益ಠ)

And so, because they were mostly noncombatants–scared but all that remained of Uzushio–they decided to leave. They decided to revive their voyaging ways that had been nearly forgotten when Konoha was founded, when Konoha had falsely promised eternal sisterhood. Some of the noncombatants were elders who–while they may not physically kept their voyaging skills–still remembered the lessons that their elders had passed down. And so the remnants of Uzushio fled the Elemental Nations entirely, forsaking the continent that had forsaken them first.

Until, maybe, news of an Uzumaki–powerful, yes, but kind and determined and passionate–spreads even beyond the Elemental Nations. To where the flotilla of Uzushio can hear and begin to consider voyaging back home.

I know you don’t really write for descendants anymore, but I finally saw Moana and there is something that I wanted to ask if you thought was plausible. Assuming that Moana was in the descendants-verse, do you think that Auradon would try to put Maui on the isle, because on one hand he’s a Demi god who helped Moana save the world from Te Ka. But on the other, he’s the reason the world needed saving at all and if Auradon imprisoned a god (Hades), demigod doesn’t seem much of a stretch.

There’s a lot going on in the greater Descendants ‘verse which I don’t fully know (I haven’t read the book and only cursory watched the animated shorts) so my interpretation of the ‘verse is mostly based on the first movie (I haven’t yet watched the second, but the GIFs look great) and whatever I get curious about and look on the wiki and decide whether or not to keep.

Because the Descendants ‘verse itself picks and chooses what it wants from the greater Disney ‘verse and some of their own beta canon contradicts with itself so it’s hard to keep consistent with the Disney ‘verse when Descendants clearly has decided to ignore it.

I guess what I’m saying is, thanks for the ask, anon, and I’ll answer based on my own internal understanding of the ‘verse (which is based on limited information anyway), and so it is in no way actual factual for the ‘verse and should not discourage you one way or another.

So let’s go:

First off, Moana was a great movie. I loved it. (It’s on Netflix, for anyone who has yet to watch it, btw). And so given, as you said, the Auradon was capable of imprisoning Hades (a full god) and Maui is a demi god (who was born human and whose source of magical shapeshifting abilities is his fish hook) then yes, I agree, that Auradon COULD trap Maui on the Isle. I mean, it’s not even really that difficult since without the hook or a boat he couldn’t leave even a non-enchanted island which is how Moana first meets him in the movie.

Would Auradon think/be motivated to do so? I’m thinking no.

Plot-wise, Maui isn’t really a villain. He’s painted to be so in Moana’s grandmother’s story because, hey, he stole the Heart of Te Fiti and caused the world to slowly decay etc. etc. But then we as an audience find out he was trying to do it for the sake of humans (in a Prometheus-esque, steal fire from the gods sort of situation, and Prometheus was never considered a villain) and in the end, he helps Moana return the Heart which basically wipes his slate clean. Te Fiti even restores his fish hook so, if anything, he’s good there.

So unless Auradon imprisons him before Moana can find him to restore the Heart of Te Fiti–thereby dooming the Polynesian islands/the rest of the world to the encroaching decay and darkness of Te Ka–then he wouldn’t be considered a villain anymore to then be imprisoned.

Additionally–and this is very much so my own headcanon–I’m pretty sure the kingdom of Auradon only corresponds to the equivalent of the continent of Europe. Both the school and the Isle have characters from other countries/kingdoms/empires–such as Jafar and Jay, Lonnie, Freddi Facilier, etc–because the school is meant to foster international relations in the young elites of the world (think actual United Nations for teenagers) and the Isle is one of the most secure prisons in the world.

Maui would be under the jurisdiction of Moana (or her descendants) as the ruler of the society that he briefly terrorized with his actions and seeing as how, again, he did help restore the Heart of Te Fiti, she/her descendants wouldn’t send him to be imprisoned on the Isle.

If anything, the idea that Moana’s descendants have a guardian shapeshifting demigod watching over them at Auradon Prep is a lot more appealing to me than Maui being imprisoned on an Isle and NOT BEING ABLE TO SAIL OR SHAPE SHIFT. That’d be so sad, anon, so sad T_T

And also, considering that some of the GIFs of the second movie have a badass pirate from the Isle, having a voyager on the hero side would be pretty fun.

man, that one with tetsuki and azula made me so excited?? like, now i’m wondering what would have happened if azula got to her first? what about a bodyguard!tetsuki? these two strong, brilliant women, and they see each other’s worth, askjfsblhdbfsg need me more of that

So I know this is meant more as a review to this previous ask box author’s cut than another prompt, but I liked the idea so much and, in a way, it does kind of involve an unwritten headcanon for Iron Will that I’ve yet to reveal so… thanks, anon, and also please enjoy?

The only difference between what you will and might have become is this:

When you are six years old, your maternal uncle dies. Your grandparents–who had disowned your mother for running off with a lowly, uncouth Earth Kingdom bounty hunter–are now without an heir.

Your father will not give up ZhuEn–she is near to completing her training and would not suffer going anyway–whereas you are six years old and the reason why your mother is no longer alive.

The choice is obvious because it is not yours to make.

It becomes apparent very early on that your grandparents don’t really want you. They’re just making do. But even a second born mongrel of an heiress is better than their line ending.

They are desperate and have a reputation to maintain, and so they send you off to the Royal Fire Academy for Girls in hopes the matrons will make something of you.

You’re certainly made into something, but not by the matrons.

You hate school.

You only just started training with your father before he sent you away, but you miss the lessons–how to hide in the trees, rig traps and ambushes, and where to stab a person so it’ll hurt but not maim.

At the Royal Fire Academy for Girls you are taught useless things, like how to eat a meal in a ladylike manner and play musical instruments and the names of long dead Fire Nation nobles.

You smuggle a pair of knives into your uniform and memorize the matrons’ patrol of the dorm at night. During lessons you daydream about escaping, but you don’t actually plan on following through:

You’re sure your grandparents would disown you–heiress be damned–and your father has made it clear there is no place for you.

Still, just in case.

You don’t look like your father–whose image is fading quickly from your memories–but you have an Earth Kingdom look about you, grey eyes nearly green.

“Like pond scum,” the princess says with a falsely sweet smile on her face.

One not entirely useless thing you’ve learned at the academy: words can be as sharp as blades.

“Your nose is cute,” you say–and you can practically see the interest fade from the princess’ eyes. Everyone compliments her, wants to befriend royalty–“like a baby boarcupine’s.”

Even the young of that particular species can only be generously considered hideous.

Anger and interest flare. You smile back.

After that, your status at the school shoots skyward like a firework.

Your parentage doesn’t matter anymore, neither does the fact that you’re heiress to only a minor house–you are part of the Fire Princess’ cohort.

Even the matrons begin to treat you better, no longer smacking your hands to make you pay attention. Now you are allowed to daydream in peace, but you no longer need to: you’ve found your place.

Or, rather, your place has been found for you.

A/N: I have a few ideas for some future scenes in this AU, but this was the core of the idea; this is kinda how that bodyguard!Tetsuki would come about.

Hi, dona! You know I love answering your questions ( ˘ ³˘)♥

Unfortunately, I don’t think there’s very much difference between SAD!Shikaku and DoS!Shikaku–given that SAD is as close to a DoS!canon x Star Wars fusion as I could make and so the main difference in the ‘verses is Yoshino’s background… but here’s what I was able to come up with? I hope you enjoy!

Yoshino Kinokawa is a civilian born member of the Genin Corps who has made a name for herself based mostly on two facts:

She is best friends with Ibiki Morino, who everyone knows is slated for T&I–if Seki Hijiri’s somewhat concerning and potentially nefarious plans for him come to fruition.

And every mission she is part of goes… weird.

Shikaku hears of her name long before he actually meets her: he’s looking forward to it.

It’s traditional, when seeking to court someone, to get approval from their parents.

By the time Shikaku thinks of doing so, war has already ravaged the land: Yoshino is the last Kinokawa.

The fields of their little farm is, in turns, burnt and flooded, pockmarks of explosions and metal shrapnel sticking out of the ground like a cruel parody of the crops that must have once grown here.

Later, after everything, Yoshino goes out to the farm just once.

Shikaku does not ask.

He loves Yoshino.

He will live for her and would die for her and has and will continue to kill for her–affection expressed through murder, as most shinobi do.

He loves her, he trusts her…

… but that doesn’t mean he can’t be suspicious, sometimes.

Growing up in a clan is a different experience from growing up in a civilian family, this he knows. But he also knows that Yoshino’s child-rearing methods are far closer to the former than the latter–though, still vastly different from both.

(If Shikaku knew more about the Fire Temple, he would have made the connection easily.)

His son and he are very similar, links in the chain of Nara clan heads–smart and practical and devoted–but Shikamaru has Yoshino’s temper, flaring bright and hot in moments before banking down to embers. Not diminished, but held back until needed.

Shikako goes cold, steely and deadly, revenge planned out twelve moves ahead, just like her father.

He is but one man, from a planet who has not even yet discovered space travel, but should this Empire encroach on what is his, he will not hesitate.

Yeah, I realize the whole Yamanaka/Ino vs actual literal boars of the Princess Mononoke film might get a little confusing… um.

As adorable as literal boar piglet!Ino would be, she is human in the Reasons To Keep Living ‘verse, so… sorry to rain on your parade, anon.

There might be a boar piglet which is familiarly sassy which “the stranger” decides to call Ino, but that’s probably as close as I can get.

Father isn’t your actual father–you’re human, not stupid, no matter what the boar clan scoff within earshot–but that doesn’t mean he’s raised you any less. It’s Father’s teeth that have provided your meals and Father’s fur that keeps you warm. His deep growling voice the first thing you hear in the morning and the last you hear at night.

Of course, usually that voice is saying that maybe he’ll eat you tomorrow, we’ll see boy, don’t test me, but you know he doesn’t mean it.

He feels guilty, after all. He was the one that killed your real parents.

There was a stranger, before, a generation ago. Vastly different and not at all like the stranger here now, but somehow the same.

She came with nothing but the clothes on her back, looking for a miracle.

Maybe she found it, maybe she didn’t–who is to say? She disappeared into the forest and never came back.

They are lead by the greatest hunter, a man more wolf than person–or so the rumors go.

The Emperor wants eternal life or, at the least, an undeniable show of force. The hunter wants simultaneously a lot less and a lot more: he wants to avenge his lost teacher.
