Walking Around (Uchiha Clan 2.0 dolls)

… speaking of Sakako… some dolls of the Uchiha Clan 2.0 under the cut!

(Also, Ask Box Advent Calendar is on!)

Sakako Uchiha (UJK-D01-K00*) – still not sure about her clothes palette

who do you think will be on sakako’s genin team?

jacksgreysays:

If you look closely at Sakako’s section in Our Share of the World and in the later part of Walking Around (Like Regular People) I mentioned that Sakako’s genin teammates were likely to be Boruto and Mitsuki since, like Shikako did with Sakura, Sakako would take Sarada’s place. (And the Academy teachers probably figure that since Boruto is Naruto’s son and Sakako is Shikako and Sasuke’s daughter, they’d minimize the next gen Lucky Seven effect and keep it as much to one team as possible. :P)

Unless that was a typo and you meant the Walking Around version of Sarada? In which case… I kind of briefly touched on it in this post, but now that I think more strongly on it… I’d think she’d end up on Team Chiyako (aka Shino’s little sister as their jounin sensei) wiiiiiith Sarada Haruno, as of yet unknown Inuzuka of this generation (whether Hana’s kid or Kiba’s kid or just some other Inuzuka), and a genjutsu user. Possibly of Yakumo’s clan or even Yakumo’s adopted child (I don’t think she’d want to have biological children and risk her condition being passed down).

Or, if Chiyako has already ascended as Aburame matriarch and isn’t available to be a jounin sensei, then it’d be Team Ranmaru with Sarada, next gen Inuzuka, and next gen Aburame (Shino’s kid or some other Aburame).

Either way, they would be more a support type team (like my *fingers crossed* prediction for Team Anko composed of Sakura, Yakumo, and Isaribi) or a search and rescue type team (like I headcanon for Team Hana aka my prediction for what will happen to Hanabi, Chiyako, and Ranmaru that I made long long ago in Don’t Hold Back) instead of the POWERHOUSES of Team Sevens past.

(Ah, now I don’t know if I should tag Sarada posts as Sarada Haruno to differentiate her from canon Sarada. I mean, she’s still genetically canon Sarada. But her backstory is waaaaaay different and she’d actually go by Sarada Haruno instead of Sarada Uchiha.

Eh, what the hell, I’ll tag posts of her with both)

Thinking on it some more, here’s my dream line up for Sarada’s genin team:

Team Ranmaru with a jounin Ranmaru-sensei, Sarada Haruno, Mimi Inuzuka (with her ninken, Momomaru), and Shige Aburame.

Basically:

Sarada’s Sharingan-to-be is supposed to take the place of the Byakugan.

Mimi and Momo are the cutest Inuzuka pair to ever exist and they know it.

Shige is more than used to women taking the lead given my persistent headcanon that the Aburame clan is a matriarchy.

And Ranmaru frequently regrets following Naruto to Konoha.

Aw yiss, I adore the idea of Sakako and Sarada becoming good friends, also of the idea that all the Uchiha kids really respect Sakako!

Well, right now they’re all kids, but I like to think that the Uchiha Clan 2.0 will be unique and super badass. Like each of them are Uchiha, of course, and will get their Sharingan, but I like the idea that each of them will use and specialize in their Sharingan in different ways–like, Sakako already has her seeing ghost wheelhouse down, but I imagine Sarada is super into the “I can learn new taijutsu just by seeing it once” and that combined with her super strength makes her A FORCE TO BEHOLD.

Keishin–once he’s old enough to tell his Yuuhi clan elders to stuff it, will probably run away from home to live with the only Yuuhi not to be skeevishly ambitious, aka his aunt Kurenai and cousin Mirai–will still be super genjutsu badass but somehow nowhere near as creepy as Sakako is.

Aki will probably set everything on fire. Everything. But at least he’ll have a smile while doing it. (He gets it from both sides of his family, okay?)

Those snippets were so good! So cute!! Sakako and Sarada for the win! ‘Stop ogling at my sister. Don’t make this weird for me.’ Gold!!

😀 Thanks!

Sarada definitely benefited from having three parents, in that, she probably has a spine made of steel and the sass to match. Inojin, unfortunately, only has the sass. And fantastic artistic/aesthetic abilities.

I do think that people are fond of Sakako, and she’s not as isolated as she thinks she is, but it’s also true that she’s only “most important” to Sasuke and everyone else has other people. So even though Sarada and Sakako do get along quite well, Inojin’s her real sibling–i.e. the one she is raised alongside–so they’re not very close the way siblings and best friends are.

Also, Sakako probably gives off a “do not disturb” vibe in a more polite and effective manner than her dad did when he was younger.

Walking Around (Glancing Through Windows), (2016-10-01)

(UJK-D01-K00*: Sakako Uchiha)

In a corner of Sakako’s medical file is a series of numbers and letters in print so fine that it can’t be anything but important. After all, in a world of shinobi and bloodlines–where peace is only very recent after centuries of international conflict–why advertise the newest generation of Konoha’s most powerful and vulnerable clan?

Of course, given Sakako’s full name is on her file anyway, the fine print of the tag is hardly a deterrent to would-be bloodline thieves, but hers is mostly for uniformity.

(UJK-D01-K01: Sarada Haruno)

Sarada sits next her brother and, without warning, jabs an elbow into his side. Inojin, understandably, flinches away and curls a protective arm around his ribs.

“What was that for?” he hisses, trying and failing to shove at her while keeping his distance. Shikadai, seated on his other side, shifts his chair decidedly away from the siblings.

“Don’t make this weird for me,” Sarada hisses back through a threateningly sweet smile.

Inojin also scoots his chair away from her–or tries to, at least, but she hooks an ankle around one of its legs and he’s not the one with daily super strength training with Kaa-chan.

“I wasn’t doing anything!” he protests.

Sarada rolls her eyes, gestures at him, “You’re my brother,” she says, then gestures at the table two rows in front of them, where a certain Uchiha heiress sits closest to the window, “She’s my sister. You were making googly eyes at her. Don’t make this weird for me.”

“I-I wasn’t!” he lies, poorly. He can feel a blush creeping up his face, and given how pale his skin is it must be obvious.

“Mhmm,” Sarada hums, unconvinced.

Shikadai chooses to get involved for this part, the traitor. “That’s my cousin, Inojin. Don’t make this weird for me either.”

Beset on all sides, Inojin chooses to go down swinging: “I don’t say anything when either of you make googly eyes at Boruto!”

Shikadai rears back, glancing around to see if any of their classmates overheard, while Sarada narrows her eyes and leans in slowly.

Inojin is honest enough to admit that he’s more than a little afraid.

“We’re clear,” Shikadai says over his head to Sarada, who leans in even further.

Inojin blinks.

“Good,” Sarada says simply, sitting up in her chair as if she hadn’t just nonverbally exerted dominance over her brother. “Let’s not talk about any of this again.”

Her table mates nod, just in time for Shino-sensei to enter and begin the day’s lesson. Which is great: maybe if she’s lucky she’ll forget about it by the time class is over and won’t accidentally blurt it out at her sister during the Uchiha clan meeting today.

Why did Inojin have to go and make things weird?

(UJK-D01-K02: Aki Mitarashi)

Aki is singing a strange, tuneless, rambling song, happily swinging their joined hands back and forth. Ami smiles down at her son who, effortlessly, smiles back up at her as they weave their way through the streets.

She doesn’t understand where he gets his cheery personality from, given that–she’ll admit–she was a total brat as a child and Aki’s father… well.

Sasuke wasn’t exactly known for his bright and shining personality.

“What are you going to do with your father today?” Ami asks. She’s been invited to stay for the weekly meetings Aki has with his father and half-siblings, learn more about the other side of his heritage and the traditions of being an Uchiha, but she never felt it was appropriate.

“Going to learn fireball,” Aki sings in response, “A giant one, not small.”

She stifles a laugh, but lets the smile bloom across her face. Her kid is so weird and she loves him so much.

The crowds around them have petered out the closer they get to the Uchiha complex, still so empty after the years. That’s what the program is about, after all, but it’ll be a long time until its filled.

Sasuke had offered her and Aki a house there, but she applied for the village gate guard position to be closer to her family. The Mitarashi are minor, nowhere near as prestigious as the Uchiha, but Aki is her son first–Sharingan bloodline be damned–and she’ll give Sasuke one day a week but not everyday, not everything.

The silly little brat she used to be would have been over the moon at the idea of having Sasuke’s child. The adult she is now knows that her son is in danger because of the other half of his genes.

But it’s not as if she didn’t know that going in. She doesn’t begrudge Sasuke that–she wouldn’t have volunteered for the program if that were the case–and while they may not be wedded in bliss, they’re far from the strangers they used to be.

Friends, almost, if she’d admit out loud to being even the slightest bit fond of those weirdos from her class, instead of just merely tolerant.

In the Uchiha complex training fields, Ami lets a squirming, excited Aki go to run and join his half-siblings.

Sakako and Sarada both have their father’s black hair, but Aki has the Mitarashi violet if a bit darker than her own. Ami stifles another laugh at the idea of a pink haired Uchiha, before meeting Sasuke’s eyes.

They nod to each other, between strangers and friends, parents to the same amazing boy who sings made up songs with one breath and will create fireballs with the next. She could stay, if she wanted, but for now, in this space, Aki is an Uchiha and she’s got a shift at the gate.

(UJK-D01-K03: Keishin Yuuhi)

Keishin stays quiet as his mother lectures him on proper behavior–yet again–when they encounter Mitarashi-san leaving the Uchiha complex. The smile his mother wears is demur and false, the one Mitarashi-san wears is equally false but toothy and sharp.

“Ami-san” his mother says, using first name only, overly familiar in a way she’s told him not to do. He’s supposed to call his half-siblings by last name only–except for Sakako-san, of course.

“Kaneko,” Mitarashi-san returns, even more familiar with the lack of a suffix.

They smile at each other in a moment fraught with silence, before Keishin’s mother says, “Another shift at the gate? It’s unfortunate that you’re unable to spend more time with your son. My son and I are truly blessed, and it’s always a joy to see him interact with his father.”

Mitarashi-san’s smile grows tight around the eyes for a moment before it relaxes–but doesn’t get any less sharp. She looks to him, and Keishin freezes, uncertain, “Maybe ‘true heir’ would enjoy some time to himself every now and again,” she says, almost wondering, before turning up to Keishin’s mother. “Enjoy your blessed time, Kaneko. I’ll see you next week.”

His mother gives a sound of protest, but Mitarashi-san leaves. A chakra enhanced leap taking her from street to roof, kitted out in a somewhat dusty Konoha uniform.

Keishin’s mother never comes to the Uchiha complex in an outfit less than immaculate, and he’s certainly never seen her do some of the shinobi tricks he knows she can do.

During the weekly Uchiha clan meetings, his father will join the madcap playing that they all eventually devolve to–and the one time Sakako-san and Haruno-san’s mothers were there, they did, too–but Keishin’s mother never joins in.

She sniffs, turning the both of them back toward the Uchiha complex, resuming her lecture once more. Keishin follows.

A/N: So the eldest three of the Uchiha no Jinkou Keikaku. Not really feels-y, as I said yesterday, but I just wanted to write these head canons down before I forget them. So here are three random snapshots of the next gen Uchiha clan.

Ami is in fact the childhood bully from the Ino vs Sakura preliminary tournament flashback fight and she is distantly related to Anko–purple hair, brown eyes, and names beginning with A? It’s about as canon as Kishimoto gets so… Also, if the Mitarashi own teashops and dango stands it would kinda make sense that they’re a small clan (if they can even be called that).

The Yuuhi family I figure is also kind of a small clan but ones who have historically been trying to bank on the Uchiha coattails (given their coloring and all) and REALLY want Keishin (継信) to officially become clan heir. If it weren’t for Aki being a few weeks older, they might have had an argument since Sakako and Sarada are both girls and the Uchiha were super traditional. But given that this is the Uchiha 2.0 and Sasuke knows better than to be a sexist asshole, Keishin wouldn’t really have much of a case even if he were older than Aki.

Seeing as how Keishin is only seven, though, there’s still time for him to grow up and tell off the Yuuhi clan elders for trying to make him usurp his half sister.

Wait. In your Sakako spinoff, Sakura still had Sarada. Via being a surrogate? I would imagine so, given how you stated that Sasuke was strictly mono. If that’s the case…what’s stopping Shikako from being a surrogate for Gaara? She knows that he makes a decent father (though he’s probably never dealt with infants), and Sasuke can’t have a problem with it if he has made use of surrogates himself… Perhaps she doesn’t want to give the meddling old men what they want?

I am. I’m what’s stopping them. >:)

But in all seriousness, anon, if I’m going to be frank, it took me a while to understand your ask in a way that didn’t make me cringe or side-eye it. I know there was no offense meant and that you’re sincerely curious about why Shikako and Gaara don’t have biological children in my weird DoS next gen spinoff, but something about the word choice or maybe just the subconscious assumption beneath the ask itself just kind of… I’ll do my best to answer you, but please keep in mind that my first reaction to this ask wasn’t exactly positive and I had to step away for a while before I could answer.

Okay so let’s go:

Yes, in the Walking Around ‘verse aka the Sakako Uchiha ‘verse, genetically-canon!Sarada does still exist. Sakura wanted a child, but is romantically involved with Ino (who is also romantically involved with Sai). While Sakura could have asked Sai to be sperm donor for her child, Konoha is already trying to establish an Uchiha repopulation program and Sakura, being part of the Medic Corps (and possibly in charge of the program?) would no doubt know of it. So the efficient thing was for Sakura to be a surrogate so she could both have a child and contribute to the Uchiha repopulation. Or perhaps “surrogate” is the wrong word choice since Sarada is HER child that just happens to be half Sasuke’s genes and a member of the fledgling Uchiha clan 2.0

Sakako might or might not be an artificially inseminated baby. My interpretation of Sasuke is demi-romantic bisexual, and Shikako as demi/bi-romantic demi/asexual. So the demi part for Shikako’s sexuality is a little up in the air. (And anyway, it’s not as if ace people can’t have or enjoy sex, they just don’t actively feel sexual desire). But the point is, Sakako’s existence isn’t as premeditated as Sarada’s is–Sakura PLANNED to have a child, and DECIDED to be part of the Uchiha repopulation program. SAKURA was the active party between her and Sasuke in Sarada’s origin.

In contrast, I’m not entirely sure if Sakako is “officially” part of the Uchiha repopulation program so much as she is someone who just happens to be born Uchiha. If that makes any sense. Whether Sakako is the result of a night of passion, or Shikako acknowledging that Sasuke wants biological children with her and agreeing to bear A child for him, it was mostly SASUKE who wanted Sakako to exist.

Keep in mind, if all five of Shikadai’s cousins exist like in Our Share of the World, then Team Seven (+friends) have already collectively raised Kareru to approximately Academy age. Maybe, parenting Kareru made Sasuke baby-crazed, and seeing as how it was Shikako and Naruto who helped him with this first child, he turned to them (who are his “one and done + exception” anyway) for another child. Hence Sakako’s existence, even if it’s not specifically the Uchiha repopulation program.

In summary, Sarada is Sakura’s child who just happens to be part of the Uchiha repopulation program, Sakako is Sasuke’s child with Shikako.

Now what’s stopping Shikako from being a surrogate for Gaara? Nothing.

Nothing’s stopping them from having biological children through sexual intercourse, either (even if they were both asexual–again, asexual people can have and even enjoy sex–it’s just that they don’t feel the desire for sex)

It’s not that Shikako thinks Gaara would be a bad father or that she thinks any potential kid would inherit his bijuu-related madness; it’s not that she loves Sasuke more than she does Gaara, either. She already has children with Gaara. Three of them, in fact. They don’t need to be biologically related to her for her to be their Mother. (This is what Gaara, in the deepest recesses of his mind, fears. But it’s doubt brought along by his shaky self-esteem and knowledge that Sasuke low-key resents him, and thus not true at all).

This isn’t about Sasuke not being okay with it or about Sasuke being a hypocrite or about Sasuke not giving her permission or whatever. This isn’t about Sasuke at all. Shikako just doesn’t want another child–she already has five children. (FIVE CHILDREN IS A LOT, OKAY. That’s more than a standard shinobi team. (Though I should say that her not wanting more children doesn’t mean that she wouldn’t totally step up and love and parent any additional kids that come along, but she doesn’t actively want to get more children. She’s content with the number she has.))

If I had to put motivations behind it… Gaara just wants family–he doesn’t want more clan, doesn’t want to pass on his blood limit–actually, Gaara just wants love? And, obviously, family helps with that. But biological children aren’t more valid as family, they aren’t somehow intrinsically more lovable than adopted children.

In contrast, Sasuke “wants to revive his clan.” That’s specifically the Uchiha clan with the Sharingan bloodline. If he just wanted (sorry to be crass here) bodies in houses, he’d just go to an orphanage and adopt all the children and make them Uchiha. But the premise of the particular spinoff world that Walking Around ‘verse is in has an Uchiha repopulation program specifically for the Sharingan.

Different motivations, so different goals, so different solutions, so different family structures.

I think Shikako doesn’t want biological children. Or rather, she doesn’t have a preference for biological children over adopted children. A close enough version of her genes are going to be passed down to the next generation anyway via Shikamaru’s child(ren) and a slightly distant but still related version of her genes comprise an entire clan. Her bloodline is fine–there’s no endangered blood limit attached to it, and so there’s no necessity for her to have biological children. To be somewhat crass again, she’s not a baby-making machine (and she’s especially not going to be one for the Suna Council.)

Let’s see… as a more concrete example: you might have noticed in Walking Around (Sharing the World) that bit about the empty room. The one that both Sasuke and Shikako were keeping silent on the matter. The way I see it, that room can be filled in different ways. If Sasuke found an Uchiha baby in a sealing scroll and decided to adopt it Shikako would agree to be this baby’s Mum.

Or, if someone volunteered to be a surrogate for the Uchiha repopulation program but didn’t actually want to raise the baby (maybe they’re a kunoichi who had been injured and would need to take a year off and decided, hey, why not get paid to be pregnant since she’s not going to be able to do missions anyway), Shikako would agree to be this baby’s Mum. Or, hell, if Sasuke decided to adopt any kid and raise that kid as Sakako’s sibling–Uchiha genes or not–Shikako would totally be okay with being that kid’s Mum, too. But if Sasuke asked for another biological kid from Shikako? … I don’t think she’d say yes.

I mean, there’s in vitro… like if Shikako donated some eggs and Sasuke donated sperm and then the zygote was implanted into some other woman. But at that point… it’d be better for the Uchiha repopulation program and Sasuke’s dream to revive the Uchiha clan if that other woman just… became one of the mothers in the program. Especially so that, if a generation or two down the line, the plan is to have the descendants reproduce with each other. Far enough that their relation to Sasuke isn’t too recent and possibly resulting in genetic problems due to inbreeding, but not so diluted that the Sharingan is lost. If there are two Shikasuke kids then their descendants are invalid to reproduce with each other without additional generations separating them.

But that’s getting away from the heart of the matter which is… I hope I answered your questions?

If you’d like to write about biological Shikaara kids, don’t let me stop you. The reason why I didn’t was because I found the NGSS while researching and it just felt right to me that the NGSS are adopted–in canon or DoS future–and in a Shikaara world, Shikako is an active enough parent that they do acknowledge her as Mother (I dunno if anyone noticed, but I figure it’s a regional dialect thing that people in Suna use Mother/Father and people in Konoha use Mum and Dad).

Our interpretations of the characters are different, so our predictions for their future will probably be different. I mean, I can even interpret the characters differently leading to different predictions–I can see a possible future where Shikako and Kiba end up together and have no children but are wildly and hilariously happy together. I can see a possible future where Shikako and Neji end up together and take on the fucked up system of the Hyuuga Main vs Branch families with fuinjutsu and REVOLUTION. I can see a possible future where Shikako doesn’t end up with anyone and is happy with her life and revels in her freedom.

Biological Shikaara children can definitely exist in some possible future; but in the particular future that I’ve somehow developed in the Walking Around/Sakako ‘verse there aren’t any.

Would Sasuke want to revive the Uchiha as a clan unit as well a as a bloodline, do you think? Does he arrange get-togethers roughly the same way the Kunnoichi Club work[s/ed]? Like, all the kids get together, and he teaches them how to breathe fire, ’cause that’s an important tradition for the Uchiha. Now if only he could remember any others … eh, I’m sure he’ll think of something.

Probably? He definitely wants them to be connected to each other by more than blood–and he does teach all of them Grand Fireball when they turn seven, probably, but given that actual clan status (as the Nara go, anyway) involve things like clan tax and land/etc and there’s only one adult and maybe six kids at most they’re not really capable of being a clan yet. Eventually? But not yet.

Especially since they all live in different households raised by different people. Not sure if Sasuke arranges meetings with the kids. If so, it’s definitely infrequent.

Sakako is probably the oldest (maaaybe Sarada is older?) and so she and Sasuke get to make up the new Uchiha clan traditions. More like coming of age sort of things–seventh birthday, becoming a genin, etc etc. Maybe they get to learn Sasuke’s Fire variant of the chidori at age twelve?

Since the Uchiha matriarch-to-be is half Nara, it’s very possible that the fledgling Uchiha clan “officially” becomes an ally of the Akimichi-Nara-Yamanaka alliance and so there’s an exchange of benefits there. The new Uchiha clan get their ears pierced at becoming chuunin (maybe genin, too, like the A-N-Y clans, but definitely chuunin).

I think Sarada would officially be an Uchiha because of the revival thing, but might choose to use Haruno. The screening for the program must have been brutal, for the bio mom – at least chunin level, no bloodlimit – and any else in the child’s life. I’d guess Sasuke would considered them clan members while Sakako is his daughter. He probably provides stipends for their care, and each is expected to form a branch. Maybe 4 or 5 others, depending on that possible 2nd child, for Lucky 7.

I was thinking she’d be under Haruno for legal reasons but have an Uchiha note on her medical records. And obviously, whoever’s in charge of the Uchiha repopulation would be able to keep track regardless of names. And, not that they’re going to turn into the weird slavery thing going on with Hyuuga, but the Uchiha name would then denote the “Main” while not having the Uchiha name but still being part of the clan would be “Branch.”

And it’d make it so much harder for bloodline theft if no one is named Uchiha–and since the Sharingan’s default state is dark eyes and not like the Byakugan’s obvious pupil-less white eyes, THIEVES CAN’T TELL THE DIFFERENCE NEARLY EVERYONE HAS DARK EYES AND THE SLOWLY REPOPULATING UCHIHA CLAN ARE SAFE.

But, true, they may very well use both for Sarada. She’d definitely introduce herself to people as Haruno instead of Uchiha since as far as she’s concerned she’s only Uchiha in blood and not in pracitce.

The screening program was pretty brutal–but they probably didn’t rank cap it, mostly because they wouldn’t want to limit potential surrogates to shinobi and thus reduce their labor pool. They did probably check things like chakra capacity even if they weren’t necessarily shinobi. For example, a lot of the medic corps aren’t necessarily ninja but they do learn to use chakra (and also, as medic nin they’d hear of the program first) and would have good chakra control/capacities.

Since the Nara affiliation isn’t technically a bloodlimit, Shikako did pass the screening for it. Though Sakako may very well have been produced outside of it anyway because, you know, Shikasuke.

The surrogates do receive stipends, and Sasuke/the remains of the Uchiha finances do factor for most of it. But seeing as how Konoha would want to repopulate such a strong bloodline, there is a government subsidy for part of it.

There are at least two others that I fleetingly thought of–definitely there are actually more than that, but only two that I even vaguely considered before this. One of the surrogates is Ami who isn’t as awful as she used to be and is kind of like an awkward and exasperated in-law to the giant mass of convoluted relationships that makes up Konoha Twelve+Sakura+Sai. Another is from Kurama clan (aka Yakumo’s clan who somehow didn’t learn the first time) or the Yuuhi clan (aka Kurenai’s clan who already have red eyes naturally and probably are a minor clan who are actually or claim to be long ago branched from the Uchiha anyway) and is trying to make a SUPER GENJUTSU BLOODLINE and possibly take “Main” status from Sakako because of that.

There’s definitely more, but I haven’t thought that far about it…?
