SAKAKO getting cool af seals on her arms just like Momma Kako is the best. (Sakako making sealing her side hobby YESSS). Haha, that fanart of Sakako with the long-sleeve mesh-shirt (i think?) made me second-glance it since i thought those were seals on her arms.

Along with the usual mother-daughter bonding methods of stargazing, ninjutsu, and mass destruction, fuinjutsu is definitely something that Shikako and Sakako enjoy together. šŸ˜€

I do think Sakako is more the ofuda-style seal master than a tattoo-on-myself seal master, but she does have some resistance seals on her and, when she figures out how to make it work, some seals on her knuckles so she can punch ghosts (and ghouls) more effectively.

AU: NarutoxSasuke in DOS with Shikako as a surrogate mum if they ever wanted a baby?

jacksgreysays:

O-okay, anon, this is… hm…

I… first off, have to go back into NaruSasu headspace–which, actually, there are some doujinshi I’ve been meaning to read, so that shouldn’t be too hard–but which I don’t normally equate with DoS as opposed to other Naruto fanfiction since, unsurprisingly, DoS is Shikako-centric so most of my recursive fic is also Shikako-centric (or Sakako, for next generation).

But I also… I don’t really… would Naruto and Sasuke even want a baby and would they want Shikako to be surrogate mother for said baby? I kind of figure they wouldn’t really want kids necessarily but if they did… wouldn’t they adopt? Given that a lot of their bonding/mutual respect for each other was the whole–we are both young orphans thing–wouldn’t they want to adopt?

Although, okay, even if they did want biological children, I kind of find it… not that Shikako would say no, but that Naruto and Sasuke wouldn’t ask her because they know she’d feel obligated to say yes even though she’d rather not?

Sorry anon, this is just going up against a lot of personal head canons that I don’t quite know how I’ll write around… Can I interest you in some Kareru Uzumaki fic with NaruSasu + Shikako instead?

Yeah, I mean I understand it’s kind of like a trust/vulnerability thing–you know, like ā€œwe would like to have a child and you’re our best friend and we want to involve you in this big step in our livesā€ and for some people it is an honor of sorts but it’s also… like… no thank you? Like, there’s a difference between being someone’s Maid of Honor and being someone’s surrogate and I can definitely see Shikako being one enthusiastically but the other not so much…

And it’s like… if this is, again, about reviving the Uchiha population (or the Uzumaki population for that matter) then there would be volunteers for such a program that would probably be okay with having someone else raise that child? Pregnancy isn’t a willy nilly decision, I agree, but there are definitely different stances on it and for Shikako it is, as you said, a sacrifice and a huge effort. For a different person who volunteers for this medical program it might not be such a huge sacrifice per se if they’re getting compensated for the effort outside of friendship.

So, you know, if Naruto and Sasuke really want a biological child there’d be others who would be better choices for surrogate than Shikako.

Do you go on the recursive forums??

I sometimes check out the index page by @book14reader, but otherwise not so much. I’m a bit of a completionist when it comes to some things, so if I try to read through the recursive forums without the index page then I’ll feel compelled to read EVERYTHING and considering how much there is that basically means I won’t sleep ever.

But it’s a cool place and some of the most interesting AUs come out of it so I highly recommend it.

Dropped the DOS ‘verse on my new friend the other night. Oh my gosh, the reaction was brilliant. They were over the moon. Can’t quite remember it exactly, but it went something like “I love anything Nara,” and I said: “Mmm? Have you read DOS?” Cue curious noise. “What is this DOS?” I was shocked. “How do you /not/ know?” and thus the explanation happened, and you’ve either wound up with a new fan, or a new obsessive fan. It was a little hard to define which type of excited squeeing it was. XD

One of us. One of us. One of us.

That’s fantastic! I’m sure Silver Queen ( @jickysilver ) will love to hear it!

DoS is definitely a ā€˜verse that keeps on giving, and I’m glad that new readers are joining in on the fun.Ā

One of us. One of us. One of us.

You seem to be posting a little less than lately, are you just busy? U ok??

I generally post at least once a day, actually, but a couple of weeks ago with the whole influx of Sakako/DoS future fic related asks there was a lot of brainstorming going on. So in comparison there have been fewer posts…

Also, yeah, I’ve beenĀ a little busy lately. But thanks for the ask, anon, I appreciate it. šŸ™‚

I really like the way you word and explain things. You’re very articulate (at least on paper šŸ‘)

Thanks, anon! šŸ™‚ I’m a huge mess when talking in person, but written word is a lot easier for me–easy to rearrange things to convey ideas better when I have time to process what I’m thinking and turn that into words. Also, metaphors aren’t as effective when spoken aloud, I find, or at least they tend to sound awfully cheesy when I voice them instead of writing them.Ā

Okay so, you may not like Boruto, (and honestly, I can’t disagree with you) but you have to admit that Himawari is pretty great. Such a cutie. A dangerous cutie

Boruto is… I have yet to find his positive traits, is the best way I can put it. With nearly every other next gen character I can find some aspect of them that I like or understand or sympathize with at least a little bit, but Boruto is basically like… self-absorbed privileged upper class cishet white guy who feels entitled to everything but doesn’t understand responsibility or respect?Ā

Like… even at the end of his story arc he doesn’t really understand how much of a tool he was being? He CHEATED multiple times in an exam witnessed by foreign delegates and against someone who is supposed to be his best friend and yet we’re supposed to root for him? I’m just… wtf.

If he were presented as that douchebag character who learns how much of an asshat he’s been and eventually becomes a better person through ~friendship~ and such then, sure, that would have been great. Fantastic even. I love Jeffrey Winger’s character development in Community from manipulative scumbag to reluctant group leader. I understand, at the very least, why Shawn Spencer from Psych is the way he is and himĀ lying about being a psychic is how he can help people and his character development is great, too.

But there’s none of that for Boruto as far as I can see, and that’s really what he needs, I think. Kishimoto just slapped a hero label on him without backing it up and there’s nothing at all that supports that.Ā He’s just been presented poorly, is all–no surprise–and he’s still new enough to me that I haven’t been able to crack his code. But it’s running in the back of my mind so I can do more Walking Around installments with next gen Team Seven, so hopefully it will be sooner rather than later.

As for Himawari–I don’t know much about her either, but what I do know is that basically, yeah, she’s fantastic. šŸ˜€

In DOS, the night of the festival: Tenten: The stars look beautiful tonight. Shikamaru: Yeah. You know what else is beautiful? Tenten: *blushes* What? Shikamaru: Shikako. (When she’s in Konoha and NOT DYING AND NO GUYS ARE APPROACHING HER EVEN WHEN SHES IN THAT KIMONO. He’s done his job well)

Oh, no! Did Shikamaru spend most of their date making sure Shikako wasn’t getting hit on (literally or figuratively)?

No, he’s not that ba–

… well…

TenTen knew what she was signing up for, surely?

Different person: I keep coming back to Sakako being called “The Conjurer,” since, to her enemies, it would seem like she’s conjuring vengeful spirits and letting them attack her foes.

jacksgreysays:

I think I have a different understanding of what the word conjurer means because for me it means something more like conjuring as in creating things or like stage magic where they pull a rabbit out of a hat. Conjurer in Japanese is either Kijutsushi (儇蔓師) or Majutsushi (魔蔓師) which is kind of like conjurer as I understand it–magician/juggler/illusionist or mage in a high fantasy thing.

I think maybe ā€œSummonerā€ is more what you’re going for–not the Kuchiyose of summoning animals in Naruto, but more like the summoning of spirits like in Final Fantasy. That is Shoukanshi (召喚士) or Shoukansha (å¬å–šč€…) which maybe might work better in terms of accuracy? Also the shi (士)Ā of Shoukanshi is warrior which is kinda cool.

Ah, I don’t really watch many horror movies, so I only vaguely know that movie exists.Ā No worries, anon! Conjurer does sound pretty damn badass, even if it’s not quite the thing we want. šŸ™‚
