lyrics adapted from Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep by Mary Elizabeth Frye

(but, honestly, inspired by the gorgeous TAZ fanart that used it by @kaylabarart)

Coming out of my cage
And I’ve been doing just fine
Gotta gotta be down
Because I want it all
It started out with a kiss
How did it end up like this
It was only a kiss, it was only a kiss
Now I’m falling asleep
And she’s calling a cab
While he’s having a smoke
And she’s taking a drag
Now they’re going to bed
And my stomach is sick
And it’s all in my head
But she’s touching his chest
Now, he takes off her dress
Now, letting me go

I just can’t look its killing me
And taking control
Jealousy, turning saints into the sea
Swimming through sick lullabies
Choking on your alibis
But it’s just the price I pay
Destiny is calling me
Open up my eager eyes
Cause I’m Mr Brightside

My half-hearted attempt at a blues-y/jazzy cover of Mr. Brightside by The Killers.

Recorded with my iPhone so the quality isn’t the best, but I did clean it up on Audacity (and drop my pitch by about 5% because of how goddamn high my voice is).

The Ballad of the Traitor’s Wife by Silver Queen

I woke up in the morning and saw the mountain there
It was a common sight that drove me to despair,
If I tip my head [right] back, and say [my] prayers to the sky,
If I reach into the blue[ness], will I soon learn [how] to fly?

To the right there is a forest, deep and dark and feared,
To the left there is an ocean, a crossing none have dared,
Behind me holds no safety, not for one such as I,
Either to the mountain, I must go, or I shall surely die,

I could have been a soldier, or a dancer, or a tree,
I could have been farmer or a merchant or a queen,
Instead I married a man, who turned out to be a thief
Who died and left me nothing but betrayal and helpless grief

If I must, I’ll be an inchworm, if I must I’ll be a snake
But you won’t [stop me/keep me from] moving, when there is so much at stake.
So I became a killer, a murderer [and/a] thief,
No choice [except/but] the Shinobi’s life for me,

~

Last version!

So, remember those posts in which I tried to fit Silver Queen’s lyrics to music and could only convey the idea via my own mediocre singing voice? Well, now I have mediocre sheet music creation instead!

I was very repetitive with the melody, so same as the “Epic Version” this is literally every stanza of the song ad nauseum. The two different instruments are the same–I just wanted the sound of both playing in the mp3.

This was pretty good practice! 😀 I hope you all enjoyed it, at least a little.

Second of three versions!

I was very repetitive with the melody, so this is literally every stanza of the song ad nauseum. The two different instruments are the same–I just wanted the sound of both playing in the mp3. Last version is queued up as well because I’m a little low on prompts to respond to.

I was very repetitive with the melody–especially so with this “Country Version”–and so this is literally every two lines of the song ad nauseum. I also did the other two versions so those are queued up as well because I’m a little low on prompts to respond to.

My Eyes (from Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog)

“sung” by JackSGreyson

instrumental from here

A/N: … Speaking of duets… ugh, no, tbh I’m kind of embarrassed to post this but ugh. Might as well. So, yes, I know the singing is shit. 😦 My main priority was “staying in character” for each role; my actual singing range is ridiculously limited and basically right in the middle of these two extremes.

I dunno? I just wanted to keep playing around with Audacity and my new mic and see what I could do (your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn’t stop to think if they should.)

I See Fire Duet Intro – JackSGreyson Mashes

artists: Ed Sheeran and Paola Bennet

~

Playing around with Audacity before I head off to work… I dunno, I really enjoy both versions and wanted to see what a duet of it would sound like… but considering how new I am to Audacity I couldn’t figure out a way to isolate the vocals on either tracks and, for some reason, the instrumentals do not match up.

So, I dunno, maybe it’s Thorin and Dis singing?

Made by andwereallwevegot and mashup’d by jacksgreysays

I posted this on my previous blog but that blog was deleted soo..

Someone with actual musical talent got a hold of my mashup’d version of The Ballad of Lapis Lazuli and made it so much better.

It’s like seeing a random sketch you made be turned into a movie. Except… with music.

This is so lovely! You have a wonderful voice, kitasmeow.

(Ooh, and here are the ukulele chords for it)

The Ballad of Lapis Lazuli

[lyrics by andwereallwevegot in this post and some modified from these lyrics in the episode The Message. Just to be clear, andwereallwevegot’s lyrics are bolded, the altered canon lyrics are italicized.]

Her name was Lapis Lazuli
She was trapped in a mirror
a prisoner long forgotten
and it couldn’t be clearer
Her name was Lapis Lazuli
She came from far away
She never really liked it here
She didn’t want to stay

Lapis Lazuli, you fled into the bottom of the sea
Lapis Lazuli, you were so mad, but then you came around to me

Her name was Lapis Lazuli
She gave us quite a scare
One morning when we went outside
the ocean wasn’t there
Her name was Lapis Lazuli
It wasn’t an attack
She took off for the world she knew
and gave the water back

Lapis Lazuli, you flew away to outer space
Lapis Lazuli, we were friends but you still wanted to leave this place

Her name was Lapis Lazuli
She sent us back a call
An urgent warning from the stars
That darkness soon would fall
Her name was Lapis Lazuli
She sounded so alone
The Home that she had found at last
was not the home she’d known

Lapis Lazuli, they thought you were a criminal
Lapis Lazuli, I know your friendship comes through subliminal

Her name was Lapis Lazuli
She wanted to be free
She’d felt so trapped so very long
by us and them and me
Her name was Lapis Lazuli
I wish it wasn’t so
She took her captor in her arms
and dragged them both below

Lapis Lazuli, you chained yourself to the bottom of the sea
Lapis Lazuli, I know you can’t, but I wish you’d come back to me

Her name was Lapis Lazuli
I knew her for a while
I might not see her anymore
[But] I’m glad I saw her smile

~

A/N: Throwing my hat into the ring! I love how many different versions there are (which you can find here). I also tried to incorporate the melody Steven sings in The Message.

Please excuse my pitchy-ness in some parts… and the parts where I forgot how many syllables I had left in each line. Also, I realize I should have made that last note fall not rise since it was the ending. Ooooh well. I hope you enjoy 😀
