Instead of clouds, Sakako watches the void between stars. I mean, with the cosmic implications of Falling into the Black and the incredible perceptions of the Sharingan, and all… (really liked the cousins chapter, though my first thought was that Sakura and Sasuke had still ended up together, and named their kid after Shikako. Instead of after Salad.)

“By the time the light from some stars gets here, they are already dead. For those stars, we see only their ghosts. We see their light, but their bodies perished long, long ago.” – William Herschel

All starlight is from millennia and eons long past. If her version of the Sharingan–warped by the Nara’s penchant for the shadows–can actually see ghosts, then she probably finds stargazing comforting. Everyone can see these ghosts, she is not alone in this.

(I actually wasn’t sure whether or not Sarada should exist as well but considering Shikako has displaced Sakura on Team Seven, there wouldn’t even be that smidgeon of a relationship between Sakura and Sasuke that would lead to canon Sarada.

I mean, unless there’s some kind of Uchiha repopulation program going on and Sakura volunteers because she wants a child but understands that it’s not a romantic entanglement with Sasuke? So Sarada might still exist somehow… or a Sakura-Sasuke child named Sarada, not specifically the canon iteration of Sarada.

But DoS Sakura is a lot different than canon Sakura, she’ll probably find and fall in love with someone else entirely and, if she wants, start a family with them instead of having a platonic child with her childhood crush.)

I think Karin died in canon DoS? Because Sasuke didn’t leave the group in the Forest of Death and save her? At least, from what I remember and according to the TVTropes page (in the Death by Adaptation section). So that scenario can’t really happen in this possible DoS future, but it’s fantastic to think of it happening in canon.

Depending on how public reputation is for the Uchiha after the whole Obito/Madara disaster, Konoha might not want to repopulate the Uchiha clan.

Then again, power. And seeing as how Sasuke isn’t a renegade walking disaster contributing to the poor reputation of the Uchiha in DoS maybe they’ll want to do it?

But would Sasuke want to? Like, after he’s found out everything about his clan… then again, it’s been his second life long goal since he was seven so…

Uh, but yes. If there is an Uchiha repopulation program and Sakura participates, it would definitely be interesting if canon Sarada existed. Her entire backstory would be different, though, but I’ve always been fond of the idea of an Uchiha medic nin (because the Sharingan would be soooooo helpful for healing).

She, like Sakura, will probably still be replaced on Team Seven by Sakako because more prestigious parentage and all, but she might very well have her own genin team anyway? Because… like… is there no Inuzuka in this particular generation? What about Aburame? Does Boruto have the Byakugan? Does he have a cousin via Hanabi? What’s going on there?

Or maybe next gen Team Medic? Maybe Hana has a kid who is also an Inuzuka specializing in medicine? Chiyako is their jounin-sensei?🤷 ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I just had a horrible thought: There might be a kind of horrific battle for the inheritance thing going on, though, if Sasuke doesn’t specify who is his heir. (There might still be a horrific battle for the inheritance thing going on anyway, with the specified heir being at risk for assassinations) Not that Sakura and Shikako would participate in that kind of thing–but who knows about the other volunteers?

Alternatively! Ino and Sakura end up together; Sai is the sperm donor for Inojin, Sasuke is the sperm donor for Sarada. Meaning Sarada and Inojin are siblings even though they aren’t genetically related, making this generation’s network of family relations EVEN MORE convoluted. (Poor Kareru, it’s so hard to keep track of which of his little cousins aren’t related to his other little cousins).

edit: check out Walking Around (Like Regular People) for more Sakako Uchiha (and confirming the last paragraph for this particular universe)
